Hello dear friends
I got 2 questions about this topic:
Can anyone explain what is the best technical way to start filming POI videos in terms of disk space and uploading times… Is it better to upload it from a computer or a smartphone and what resolution is required?
Where can I find some guidelines about what to include in the videos? I know that it has to be up to 30 second but I’m not sure what style of videos to take.
And maybe here too: Add Photos and Videos to Your Business Profile which stated the technical aspect of the video uploaded: duration up to 30 seconds, file size up to 75 MB, and resolution 720p or higher
Hi @JoniG the answer from @iorikun301 is pretty good in a general sense but perhaps we can help you more directly. Can you please tell us what you’d like to contribute to and what sort of things you’re wanting to contribute? Are you doing it personally or to support a business?
Hey
Thank you @iorikun301 thats exactly what I was looking for.
Although the video resolution limit is from Google My Business I believe the limits are the same in maps.
@MortenCopenhagen thanks for tagging @PaulPavlinovich
I don’t support a business here and on the map. Everything I do is out of love to the community and to the program
I believe a business should have it’s own account and be managed through GMB.
Maybe you could do some testing. Upload videos in different resolutions and check if/how they are compressed. Be aware that the videos might be pulled differently from the servers depending on the users’ screen resolution and the bandwidth, so testing might not be super easy. Also, some of the compression might be done locally or via Google Photos.
@MortenCopenhagen
I see the minimum limit for the resolution and maximum file size or video length in the GMB help and I believe the limits are the same in maps although nothing tells us what would be the best practice.
Will try and do some testing in the future
