People leave reviews on Google Maps for different reasons. Some are unhappy with service of a certain place, some want to share their emotions.
Undoubtedly, this contribution is priceless. The reviews help people choose a place to have a great time, find a good restaurant or an amusement park. And we’ve all got an oportunity to help others by leaving reviews.
As for me, I want people to broaden their stereotypical tourists’ routes, which include only famous places and restaurants. For example, Saint-Petersburg, the city I live in, is surely an amazaing place for tourists, millions of people visit it annualy. Unfortunately, tourists visit moslty the main avenue of our city and never go outside the center area. But Saint-Petersburg is not limited with the Hermitage or St. Isaac’s Cathedral.
Do you know how to differ St.Petersburg from other russian cities (and many cities in the world) on a photo? Just look at the road signs. They are circled in yellow
But you’ll probably never notice this in the center of the city, because your attention will be concentrated on the beauty of the buildings around you.
And speaking of… parks. There aren’t any in the center of the city. The city is suffocating in traffic fumes. Chasing to build as much square kilometers of living space as possible people destroy the nature. Only parks and small areas of wildlife help the situation a little. Unfortunately, that small number of parks is visited mostly by the locals, tourists never pay any attention to them. But believe me there’s a lot to see!
Do you like the idea of spending merely 20 minutes in the metro to get to the real huge Russian forest in the middle of conrete jungles? Bingo! You won’t have to spend a lot of time to see the city and the local culture from completely different angles.
You’ll have a chance to have some rest from the city’s bustle, enjoy the nature and breathe some fresh air.The problem is places like these are unknown to the public. A regular tourist most likely wouldn’t want to waste their time to go to the ourskirts of the city just because they noticed “a green area” on Google Maps. But if more people left reviews of unknown places like these, with time we could be able to attract tourists’ attention and show them our city from an absolutely different angle. That’s why I leave reviews on Google Maps!
