Tokyo is known as World’s top skyscraper city - but did you know Japan’s tallest building was in Osaka?
In fact, we are not only famous for food!
If you are okay with heights or fond of stylish architecture, go visit Abeno Harukas.
The area is Tennoji where it’s not yet so touristic (as of 2019) compared to Kita (North) and South (Minami) of the city. Yet, it is conveniently located from everywhere in the city, as well as direct connection from Nara.
You can reach there with both JR or Tanimachi-line on Osaka metro.
The entrance is 1,500 yen ($14) so not so cheap, but even the elevator inside is like one of the attraction at the theme park with electric stars shining and going straight to 60th from 16th floor in seconds.
Local tip
You heard Osaka is food capital and spent your money too much on food already? Don’t worry - everyone can enter up until 16th floor for free
At 58th floor, there is also an eating space where you can buy drinks including alcohol (but expect the price can be theme park price).
Local tip
Look back at the lift and don’t miss the starry lights going up and down!
Also, I strongly recommend you to visit before the sunset. By doing so, you can see the city from 60th floor in 2 colours: day and night.
In daylight, you see people and cars look like dots as the height is above 300m from the ground. It always makes me feel so small and it’s bit like doing meditation in the sky (oh they seemed to start teaching yoga at 60th floor, too!)
At night you see the beautiful city lights and it almost makes you feel like floating in the dark.
And of course, being in a nation of Hello Kitty and Pikachu, Harukas also has its own adorable character, Harukas bear. Do spot him while you are there!
