When I was on a tour of Hokkaido, around Abashiri, Shiretoko, I have a chance to get in the icebreaking ship AURORA to go breaking drift ice. The blue drift ice seemed to be found like as Japanese famous soda ice candy bar named Gari-Gari-kun. It’s like a square pole shape. Very similar to drift ice on the cold sea. The color of old enough drift ice must be deep blue, the guide said. “You are very lucky to come this time to sightseeing tour with icebreaker ship Aurora. to be able to see such an old blue drift ice.” Now each time when I ate Gari-Gari-kun, I remember the drift ice over the cold sea of that tour.

Hope it will help!!
