Where is Lake Abant?

34 km southwest of Bolu is a crater and deposit lake formed on the Abant Mountains. There are many hills in the park area from heights of 1400 meters to 1700 meters. Lake Abant has a charming beauty every month of the year. Abant is a very popular holiday destination that is preferred for both sightseeing and accommodation. The area is 127 hectares and the height of the lake is 1328 meters. It is fed with groundwater. Its depth is 18 meters. Due to the abundance of plants and the potential for outdoor recreation in Lake Abant and its surroundings, 1196.5 hectares of the area were conserved in 1988 as a Park Nature Park ”. Abant Lake is rich in flora and fauna. Pine, larch, beech, oak, poplar, ash, hornbeam, willow, juniper trees and rhododendron, tamarisk, hazelnut, medlar, chamomile, hawthorn, ilex, rosehip, fern, blackberry, strawberry, mint, raspberry, ivy, nettle, and meadow grasses mainly form trees and shrubs. The edges of Lake Abant are full of water plants and water lilies. Abant Çiğdemi (Crocus Abantensis) is on the slopes rising around Abant Lake. Small scalloped salamander (Triturus Vulgaris Kosswigi) and Abant Trout “Salmo Trutta Fario Varyette Abanticus” and Abant Hazelnut Mice (Muscardinus Avellanarius Abanticus), which are endemic species in the lake and its environs, have been published in the literature. Fish enthusiasts can catch fish at certain times of the year by paying a fee. Otters are also seen on the sides of the lake. In the forests around the lake, wild animals include foxes, jackals, wolves, bears, pigs, deer, roe deer, rabbits, squirrels, poppies; wild geese, wild ducks, heron, coot, cormorant, crane; predators hawk, born, black vulture, rock eagle, hawk, owl; other bird varieties include lark, jawpecker, puhu, meteor, woodpecker, blackbird, nightingale, finch and goldfinch.

Local food and souvenirs produced in the region are sold in the sales departments in the park. There are trout restaurants and sausage bread shops on the 22 km Abant road.

How to get to Abant?

Ankara-Istanbul D-100 It is reached by 22 km road which is separated from the 203 km of the highway and TEM highway. It is 34 km from Bolu, 225 km from Ankara and 258 km from Istanbul. Transportation to Abant Lake from Bolu center is provided by private public buses departing from the city center every two hours. web: www.boluulasim.com
Daily departure from Bolu: 07.30, 11.00, 13.00, 15.00. Every day from Abant: 09.00, 13.00, 15.00, 17.00 return.

Abant Lake and Natural Park Entrance Fee:

The entrance fee for Abant Lake and Nature Park is 5 TL for motorcycles, 8 TL for cars and 49 TL for buses as of 2019.
