The ravine of gutters, you can see the waves marked on the floor of this dreamy rambla; The arch made by the trees leads me to Colón. I find a magical fountain of canaletes, the legend says that if you drink the water from this fountain you fall in love with Barcelona and come back, this fountain indicates that it is the beginning of the path. The rambla speaks in several languages, has multiple colors and smells. The rambla of those here and those over there. Here we have a thousand stories to tell; those of San Jordi filled with flowers and dragons and those of souvenir sellers inviting the visitor to take a piece of Barcelona.
In this site curiously it can be said that Catalans feel foreigners, because the Rambla belongs to everyone. As you move from the Portaferrissa and Carmen streets to the Pla de la Boqueria you will find a wide variety of flowers. Look up to your left and as you travel back in time you will find Marilyn Monroy greeting you coquettishly from a balcony of that majestic building, where the Erotic Museum of Barcelona operates.
But if you are looking for a sensory and gastronomic experience a few meters on your right side you will find the famous Boqueria or San José market. This market of charm allows you to travel through flavors throughout much of the globe because at each step you find gastronomic delights of many countries immersing yourself in a culinary ocean that invites you to gluttony and that endangers any diet you have started or for The least that forces you to double the hours of exercise.
Going further, on the left you can see the Gran Teatro del Liceu. Its beautiful and mythical legend seems that of a hero of Homeric Greece. There stamped has remained: “I am an owl and I go alone, if you raise it again, I will burn it again”. Theater survivor of two fires, a flood and a bomb. The great Liceu Theater, symbol of the meeting of classes. In their boxes, the wealthy in the shallows the less favored, a meeting to appreciate the opera. Since its construction in the nineteenth century it differs from others since it was made not by kings but by private contributions; that’s why you do not find a royal box there. He continues standing showing his majesty to the visitors of the world.
Lower your gaze; right at your feet you will find the mosaic of Joan Miró that since 1976 is on the floor of the ramblas and that carries the steps of travelers and passers-by who walk by there and if you look up you can see the painters and artisans of the city. Take a minute that the rest will come in addition because you will find the human sculptures that really are amazing.
Mosaic Miró
In this ravine there are two extremely important constructions: The Palau de la Virreina and the Teatro Principal. The Palau de la Virreina with its 13 windows is on the right side of the Rambla at number 99. It was built 240 years ago with a Baroque style and touches of Rococo. At the moment it is the cultural seat of the city council of Barcelona that allows us to have exhibitions throughout the year. The old Teatro Teatre de la Santa Creu is the largest in Spain and one of the oldest. Victim of two fires, it was a hospital and lost its Italian charm, but it gained in modernity in the reform. Room of varieties and of cinema, cabaret in its stops entered decay. It is currently closed. Its facade is beautiful and allows us to see some sculptures fixed on its walls.
At this point we can see Columbus, but before our left hand you can go to the Wax Museum and the Garden of the fairies, this stretch of the ravine is called Santa Monica, his name is owed to the old convent of Santa Monica located on the left side of the ravine.
Opposite is Columbus, this great sculpture of 130 years of built, in the portal plaza of peace, Colon is a viewpoint that for only seven euros you can have some of the best views of the city, from this point you can see the maremágnum which is a shopping center that is located on the rambla del mar and is crossed by a beautiful wooden bridge that crosses the pier, in the sea you can see the stars star sculptures of Robet Llimos, in the night it is a place that the contrast of the boats and the lights of the bridge becomes romantic and unforgettable.
