A visit to India: 100+ days!

This story illustrates our journey to India (my home country).

A small vacation which was supposed to be exactly 28 days long turned out to be way more than 128 days. All these 128 days were inclusive of an Indian wedding, tons of desi food, sunset photography, a travel ban, and complete lockdown.

So here we go: It all began with our arrival at the spectacular Indira Gandhi Intl Airport welcoming us like this—

Please note that from this day until the next 10 days, everything appeared excellent and us being completely unaware of what was coming our way next.

Meanwhile, I attended an Indian wedding:

Bought multiple pairs of Indian Mojari:

Gobbled up lots of desi appetizing food—

Also visited one of the finest cities in India and its attractions.

The Rock Garden, Chandigarh, India.

The Japanese Garden, Chandigarh, India.

All of this still being unaware of the twist coming our way.

Then came the unexpected news— The Lockdown, which was initiated as one day Lockdown and later on extended to about 100 days. Meanwhile:

Nowhere to go | Nowhere to plan | No way to exit |

This is when everyone was stuck for days no matter where they were!
No one knew what’s going on,
No one knew what’s coming up,
No one knew what to do!

This is the part when I felt the most panicked & freaked out. Hope was the only thing we all were relying on!

A hope that things would transform into something better. Hope that a silver lining would be our way soon.

Thankfully there’s always something positive to look up to even in tough situations, like a new day, a bright sunrise, and a mystic sunset —

A silver lining eventually held our hand and brought us back home gently.

PS: I am extremely happy to be back and seeing tons of new things going on on this amazing platform.

Shout out to @SP31

Hi @StephenAbraham

So nice to hear from you after a long while! I hope you’re doing great.

Yes, that small trip turned out to be a great adventure for our family and It makes me extremely happy to share it here on this platform.

How have you been managing during the lockdown at your place? Have you traveled anywhere lately?

OMG welcome back, @ReemaGandhi !!!

I’m in awe looking at these seriously incredible photos as I read through and feel the nervousness and uncertainty that followed those initial 10 days. So glad to hear that you all remained healthy and safe despite the lockdown and everything going on and I hope all was well once you got back to Illinois. A lot has happened in the States since you’ve been gone, and as many people have said, it has felt like ages since this all began a few months back, so I’m sure it took a lot of patience on you and your family’s end.

So great to relive your travels to India through your inspiring photography.

A sigh of relief! It feels amazing to be back home safe.

As you are aware of how that short trip turned into an adventurous experience and we somehow managed to get through.

Nonetheless, I can’t agree more that a lot has transformed here since then and is still undergoing major changes, thankfully good transitions.

How are things at your end nowadays? Are you enjoying working from home and keeping the abundance of WFH in mind, I believe each one of us has a creative home office by now, what about you? @SP31

Could not agree with you more about good transitions happening :pray:t6: @ReemaGandhi !

Things are good! Keeping safe and avoiding crowds and following guidelines and definitely used to working from home now. Doesn’t seem like going into the office will happen too soon but that is better anyways. Have gotten a little creative but not too much :joy: . How about you?

In my case, there’s a well-structured study station for my kiddo which is getting more attention nowadays since remote learning is in vogue, and most of our time is spent around it.

Hope you understand! :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @ReemaGandhi ,

wow this is a marvelous story, how something unexpected turned out in an extended, beautiful, visit to a new country. I can imagine the shocking news of being forced staying there should have been quite hard to digest, but indeed let’s look always at the positive side of the things, you had a beautiful 128 days holiday which you would never do normally  .

Thank a lot to share you journey and those beautiful photos, I’m sure you were so happy to come back bringing back this nice travel experience.

Hi, @LuigiZ Thank you very much! You’re so kind. How have you been?

You’re right, having a holiday extended to over 100 days is something you don’t expect to have every other day. But yes, there is always the positive side & hope to look up to in such situations.

But how are things at your place nowadays? Is it safe to go around the town? Do you travel often?

Stay safe and happy thanksgiving! Enjoy.

All is good here @ReemaGandhi , thank you!

We are hitting a 2nd wave generally all over Italy and facing some restrictions, however we can go out to work, school and doing alone sports but most of the shops are closed. I’m not currently travelling anywhere than just around the city, not even for business since when all is started … unfortunately it is quite difficult going abroad if not impossible for certain destinations. We will take it back :hugs: .

Big hug and happy thanksgiving you too!

I know ya! Its hard to imagine but things here are worsening.

Going to the office sounds like a fantasy only.

Although no schools are open yet, they are now planning to start a hybrid model where kids can go to school for a couple of days and rest will still, be remote!

Stay safe & let’s hope things get better soon. @LuigiZ

Very interesting and that’s indeed a good start @ReemaGandhi , we have had (and still in some places) that method here too. It is indeed a good mix for both safety and instruction.

Thank you very much once again, stay safe you too  .
