Picture of a Merry-go-round, clicked in the village fair
I have just visited a wonderful village fair held in Bakreswar, a little away from my Home-town. This fair is known here as ‘শিবরাত্রি মেলা’(Shivratri Mela) in Bengali as it is held on the occasion of Lord Shiva puja. It’s a typical Indian village fair where you can find happy faces all around. The rural people of this area eagerly wait for it.

It is organized once in a year and stays for 15 days. These days are the happiest days of the year to the villagers. Many people come here from nearby villages. This gathering increases the joy of fair.
Small shops of variety of things
Here you can find various types of small shops and stalls.

To me the most attracted side of the fair is the food -corner. Here you can get vajis, pakoras (i.e. types of snacks) and variety of sweets and cotton candies also.
Cotton Candy
Among these Jilapi and the cotton candy are my favourite.

In another portion there I found many small shops , selling beautiful home-decor items, kitchen-things, toys for children etc.

In one corner of the fair, there was a shooting-game stall.

Ride for children
Last but not the least there was a big area for various types of riding for children , merry-go-round, break dance etc.
Here , in Bakreswar people visit this fair at night . Most of the shops remain close at day-time. I enjoyed and liked this fair very very much and am also waiting for the next year to visit it again !!
