What’s the most interesting thing you’ve done as a Local Guide? Hello everybody and thanks to Google for inviting me to participate in this great meeting of local guides; Of what I have done as a local guide, the most significant and important thing I have done is having managed to get Google Maps to accept including the Crespito Coexistence Park (my neighborhood) as a new site.
The great meaning of this is that the area where the park is located, until 4 years ago was an abandoned place and where unscrupulous people threw waste and other things; At that time I led its recovery and cleaning, combining time and effort of volunteers from the community of my neighborhood, we got down to work and managed to improve that area.
Concerned to continue recovering the area and wishing to have more vegetation and a place for everyone’s recreation, I decided to lead the application for execution, getting it to be executed and built.
After that, the neighbors and I have planted many plants and trees, watering them ourselves and trying to beautify and improve it more every day.
Hence, this achievement is very important to me, in addition to the happiness of publishing photographs of the various events and activities that take place there, since it became the meeting point for all and all my neighbors have a greater sense of belonging now Seeing themselves in the photographs, they feel very important! … Now, people from other neighborhoods of the city and from other cities and countries, know of the existence of this park inaugurated on May 3, 2017, and know about our community.
In addition to this, I must add that I am also excited to know that my most viewed photograph reaches 1,622,419 views, a photograph that I took when passing in front of a private entity in the city of Barranquilla while on a walk, which indicates that we never know which will be the one with the greatest impact among those who seek the help of Google Maps; That encourages me to continue being a local guide!.. I want to learn a lot in San Francisco!
