Recently, I’ve been to Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu, India) for vacations. The city really impressed me and the most amazing thing I saw was an initiative carried out by local people there.
There was a wall there on a busy street, which had some racks and shelfs. That was basically used to donate clothes, shoes, books, etc. to those who are in need.
People used to keep whatever they want to donate there and then move ahead. They were not aware to whom those materials are going. Those who are in need can come there and pick whatever they want.
In simple terms, neither donor knows who is receiver and nor vice-versa. That means there is no chance of showing favour to anyone and everyone is running on trust.
According to me, such initiatives (or something similar) should be carried out in different cities across the globe.
Thank you @Tushar18 for sharing this great idea.It is really good thing to do. An incredible move taken by Coimbatore people will inspire all others to do something for humanity which is the community from we all belongs.
Thanks @C_T for the recognition. I asked some vendors out there at the street and they told me that this initiative was started by group of local people residing there. Overall, it was really appreciable !!!
I love this story and so glad you shared @Tushar18 — thank you! The biggest joy of all is truly giving and so very internally enriching that it’s hard to actually put into words. Regardless the size, any amount of giving is not only humbling for the receiver but gratifying for both the receiver and the giver. If only I had more to give (so much more) as I too have had to embrace being humble from the overwhelming kindness of others.
An ‘honor system’ of sorts that is inclusive of entire communities really speaks volume as to the depth and magnitude of giving to others.
