A trip to Amritsar

Caption -1 The Golden Temple.

The Golden temple is the main tourist attraction of the Amritsar, Punjab. You will feel the beauty and the peace here. So this was the most memorable trip for me as almost 150 students of our college are the part of this amazing trip.

Caption -2 Gurudwara Rakab ganj sahib.

Our journey was started from the Gurudwara Rakab ganj , Delhi. All the friends and Student was gathered here and waited for the buses. After seating on the buses we started our journey to Golden temple.

Caption -3 70 Mile stone ( MURTHAL).

Our first stop is on MURTHAL which is famous for its food. The interior of this restaurant is amazing and very crowded. The main restaurant in murthal is

“Amrik Sukhdev” but due to very long waiting we had our food in this restaurant.

Caption -4 Inside view of the restaurant.

The place is very crowded because this is very popular or we’re almost 200 students here so it will make it more crowded. There were many selfies and photography points.

Caption -5 Aloo piyaz Parantha.

I ordered the Aloo piyaz Parantha here. The food is good but you have to wait for 10 to 12 minutes because of the crowd. As per my personal opinion food is little expensive as â‚ą100 or $1.2 USD is very expensive for this Parantha. After eating this Aloo piyaz Parantha we all were ready for our destination. We sang songs , play games on buses the whole night.

Caption -6 Gurudwara Shri Dukhniwaran Sahib, Patiala.

Our second stop is Gurudwara Shri Dukhniwaran Sahib, we visited this Gurudwara and after that we enjoyed tea with bread toast at this Gurudwara. The line is very huge but they arranged a seperate line for us. After this we reached Amritsar and checked in our rooms then we all friends rests for a while and went towards the Street heritage of Amritsar.

Caption -7 Street heritage view of Amritsar.

The Street view of this place is amazing. It’s really an amazing view which gives you great vibes. Whenever you come here I will definitely Suggest you to visit this place.

Caption -8 Maharaja Ranjit Singh statue.

This statue is the centre of this beautiful Street heritage. Maharaja Ranjit Singh is also known as the Sher - e- Punjab or Lion of Punjab.

Caption -9 Famous food of Amritsar.

We tried Amritsari famous kulchas from “Bhai kulwant Singh kulcha wala” the prices are very nominal and the food is amazing we tried aloo and paneer naan here with sweet lassi. We also tried tikki chat from BK Chaat bhandar.

Caption -10 Local shops of Amritsar.

You can buy rings , kadas and many more things near the golden temple. You have to bargain and I’m sure you will get all this stuff with more than :joy: 50% discount. Because this is.the Main tourist attraction of Amritsar so the rates are very high but if you start bargaining you will get things in almost half or less than half rates.

Caption -11 Jallianwala Bagh.

Jallianwala had a very deep history in it. It’s one of the famous place near the golden temple. You can visit here for free and it’s wheelchair friendly too. Photography and videography are allowed here.

Caption -12 Inside view of the Jallianwala Bagh museum.

The entry to the museum is also free you can take pictures here. The information written on the walls and on the screen is really informative to know the history of this place.

Some important information on Jallianwala Bagh:

  • Photography and videography :white_check_mark:
  • Tourists friendly :white_check_mark:
  • Wheelchair friendly :white_check_mark:

Caption -13 Partition museum.

Partition museum is also a nice place to visit here . The ticket price is just â‚ą10 for an adult and free for children. The photography and videography is prohibited here but because of our request they allowed us to take some pictures.

Caption -14 Inside view of the museum -1

There was many old articles and things which shows the history of the partition. There is also a screen in which you show the whole film on partition.

Caption -15 Inside view of the museum - 2

You have to spend almost one hour to see this whole museum nicely.

Some important information of partition museum:

Caption -16 Some pictures of The Golden temple.

After the darshan of the golden temple our journey to the Amritsar is successful ended. We enjoyed the langar ( Prasad ) food here which is very tasty. The first thing I noticed is that the halwa which is served in the Gurudwara’s of Amritsar is little different from that served in the Gurudwara’s of Delhi. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

After reading the @TravellerG feedback, i think it’s a great and important thing to sharein this post that if you want to travel the same places then you need only one day to visit all these places in Amritsar including the wagha border.

@Mukul_Anand A place I really want to visit, but have yet to get the opportunity. I will definitely get there one day. The food looks nice and the many attractions are amazing as well.

Did you manage to meet any “local” Local Guides there?

Wonderful views of Amritsar city and the monuments @Mukul_Anand , though I missed the museum and Jallianwala Baug on the last trip since it was closed for renovation.

I think Amrik Sukhdev is overhyped since people behave as if there is no other place to eat on the highway.

I will definitely try the dishes there on the next visit.

If possible, please also share the Google Maps link of the food places within Amritsar that you listed.

Thank you for your comment my friend @StephenAbraham I was looking for local guides of Amritsar but due to timing issues it was not possible but I hope I will meet on next trip.

@TusharSuradkar thank you for reading my post. Jallianwala Bagh is a must visit and I’m totally agree with you that the amrik Sukhdev restaurant is overhyped because their prices are very expensive and the taste is just normal. I will add some locations of the famous food points of Amritsar.

Thank you to both of you, have a nice day  .

Hello dear friend, @Mukul_Anand

Wow, excellent post - loved it very much.

Amritsar, Golden Temple, Wagha Border, etc. are also in my bucketlist - the difference from South India is the first barricade.

Very interesting writing style.

Well conceived and presented - appreciate your efforts.

Right from starting the trip, you have explained everything very well…

As mentioned by our @Ewaade_3A , I too love your 1st photo; of course other photos are also impressive - great!

PS :

A humble request:

Can you add approximate times from starting till the end of your trip? This will be very helpful for other travellers in planning.

From where did you start?

Regards to you both…
