A tribute to Our Lady of Paris, Notre Dame de Paris

Visited France (5th visit) and decided to spend more time exploring Paris as this time I decided to stay at Fontainebleau, about 45 minutes to an hour by train to Paris. Managed to do a mid morning cruise along the River Seine before alighted to explore this magical city.

After the devastating fire that almost destroyed Notre Dame de Paris, I feel nostalgic and saddened by the events and decided to post some photos I took of this magnificent Cathedral. And of course, everytime I saw a Gothic Cathedral in Europe I always thought about this beautiful Lady of Paris! Few facts stay in one’s memory, that it took 52 acres of trees to build the beams and lattice of this Cathedral, hence the name ā€œThe Forestā€. The faƧades are so intricately decorated one needs to pause and admire. Oh, and the two towers are not of the same height, yet they appear to be a twin image of each other. My heart goes out to the people of France, Parisien and those of us who had admired this historic Cathedral from up front or from afar. I will be back some day soon. ƀ votre santĆ©! All photos are by me using Samsung note 5 with internal filters to boost the colours.
