Yesterday, I went on a trip to Sonamosjid in Chapai Nawabgonj. I didn’t really plan it for fun, but because I had to. I went alone and travelled quite a distance, about 80-90 kilometres.
After finishing my family event, I noticed someone getting into the same taxi as me. Strangely, we had bumped into each other a few times earlier in the day, on the same bus, at the event venue, and even in an auto-rickshaw.
So, I started a conversation and asked if he lived around here. I found out he was just travelling by himself. I asked him how he enjoyed visiting the old monuments and mosques. He couldn’t remember many names but said he enjoyed looking at some mango gardens, old red buildings and other historical sites.
We got chatting, and while he wasn’t familiar with everything, I showed him some places on my phone’s map, and he started recognizing them. I told him how he could use Google Maps to find cool places even if he didn’t know where he was. I explained how he could utilize Google Maps to discover interesting, unfamiliar places.
As we travelled back, we chatted about our town, and I showed him some spots and tasty food when we returned to Chapai Nawabgonj city. I showed him how to take pictures and write reviews on Google Maps. He got so excited about the idea of sharing his experiences. He was super pumped. He instantly joined the Local Guides program and Connect as @Shaamss , excited to share his own adventures, too!
He told me he was studying business technology management and shared some cool stuff he learned about. He was really into learning new things and had big dreams for his future studies. Before we said goodbye, we swapped social media info to stay in touch. It started as a solo trip, but meeting him totally changed the experience.
It reminded me that you’re never truly by yourself, even when exploring alone. Sometimes, the best parts come from the connections you make along the way. So next time you’re out exploring, keep an open mind for unexpected friends. You never know who you might meet or what you might learn, and a solo trip could turn into an unforgettable adventure!
