A Temple Build in One whole Rock - Brihadisvara Temple

On my visit to India in 2018, I went to this beautiful city called Thanjavur. It is said that this city is once ruled by the king Raja Raja Solan and they have preserved a temple he built, his Palace and the underground secret path and many more.

So we went to this Thanjavur Temple Brihadisvara build by the King. I was amazed by the site of it. Its a big temple with its own moat like a fort. Its kind of brown and orange in color. And looks like a well planed building complex

Came to know that the main structure of the Temple is made out of one big Rock.

It was also said that it is designed or sculptured in the way that the shadow of the temple will not fall out of it’s boundaries. The sculptures are preserved and can see many stories written in walls and ceiling with sculptures. Also this is a UNESCO protected site.

The color of the many year old rock gives the temple a majestic look and makes it more amazing.

This temple have two levels of courtyards and a moat just like a fortress and said to have a underground path to the King’s palace for him an his family to directly come to the temple.

This is a must place to be visited if you visit India and I would recommend, going to this place knowing about the king Raja Raja Solan’s story. It will give you a real nice Game of Thrones kind of a feeling. Its always recommended to have a good guide.

Basically this is a temple of Lord Ganesha, so yes what you see there is a Giant Rat/Mouse believed to be the vehicle or buddy of Lord Ganesha.

So till next time See ya.

Please leave feedback and how i can improve my posts, I always like feedback and to improve upon it. Thank You ?

Thanks for this detailed post @Batzee . I liked everything you wrote and specially the pictures. Thanks for sharing all this information about this historical place.

Was this place easy to access? Do you need buy tickets to go? Was it very expensive?

If you can recommend other places in India to visit near to this one would be great.

Thanks again, I really loved the post.

Hey Hi @MdAtikuzzamanLimon Thanks for the compliment. Yes I will come to Bangaladesh one day soon

Thanks @gcarmensb17 , India is full of things to see. Its a history rich country with ancient monuments are buildings. This place is Thangavur, its the main place where Raja Raja Solan lived, so for other than the temple, his Palace is a must place to visit, you can even go a little into the underground path from there. And the place is famouse for Thangavur Bommai(Doll) which would be a nice thing to keep to remind you of this place.
