Treviso and Wine are always two very connected words, especially in November when the Wine Meetup by @ErmesT happens, and this year finally restored after a little pandemic pause.
The core target of the meetup is always to discover and taste some wine, but of course it is a very good moment to meet old and new friends and enjoy a weekend all together, isn’t is @PattyBlack @DENIT33 @FlavioDA @plavarda @JaneBurunina ?
The meetup takes place always over a weekend with several activities perfectly organized by Ermes. We met directly on the Saturday morning at the Gran Bosco dei Fontanassi were the aim of the morning was to visit this beautiful natural park and discover the role of the water here for which this natural area is very famous, the Fontanassi: they are little natural holes where the water comes out (you can literally see it like a small gaiser) from the very permeable subground and they all together creates the river path of the Sile.
Prosecco and good food couldn’t miss here so we had a picnic all together with local delicious cheese and salumi brought by Ermes and @AntonellaGr and some other things to share brought by others, special guest La Pastiera Napoletana made by Patriziawith a customized super beautiful decoration !
Time to eat and drink that we had to take our way to the hotels for a quick refreshment for the appointment at the Ornella Molon vineyard in the early afternoon. Here we have been welcomed, few pictures, few selfies and then directly into a tour of this giant villa’s and its history across several very prestigious owners till when Ornella Molon reached his dream to buy and own this fantastic place and where they run the vineyard business nowadays.
There are several different wines produced here but the most famous grape type in this area is the red Raboso. We even had the pleasure to visit the rooms where they dry the passito grapes in a special air and temperature controlled environment.
At the end of the tour a special taste was waiting for us with some local cheese and salami and of course Prosecco! Plus the opportunity to taste the local produced Molon’s wines where some of us bought something to bring home.
Wine calls food, so after the tasting directly into the Osteria of the vineyard for a typical local dinner where radicchio and meat could not miss coupled naturally with a taste of white and red Molon’s wines to close this busy but funny Saturday.
Next day as usually for the Wine Meetups the target is to visit and learn a bit of history and this time the target location was Villa Pisani, a historical residence which has had a very busy life in this area just outside the city municipality of Venice and at the border of the Italian Empire where the Veneto was not yet part of it.
The villa takes his name from the Pisani family, an old rich Venetian family who made his success thanks to the commerce and the real estate, a very ambitious family who was able to reach his end goal of having a member with the most high politic role of that period: the Doge of the Venetian Republic. However the family wasn’t able to maintain his richness for ever and this villa has been passing by several important people, such as even for a short period Napoleone Bonaparte.
After him the Villa passed to the European aristocracy and has been the center of the life (and many parties) of all the highest figures of that period till when Veneto became part of the Italian Empire and the Villa became part of the Empire properties. There are some huge and beautiful gardens all around this Villa, it is actually a park rather than a garden just because of its majesty.
The cultural visit ended up with a last meal all together at a close restaurant before everybody started driving back home!
It was a very nice and fun weekend, restoring this type of activities, seeing old friends and meet new friends. We also had the special pleasure of virtually meeting few international friends too such as: TravellerG, Kashif, Erna_LaBeau and LightRich.
Funny surprise @manulele81 : we even made the rotating video! Connect Live 2019 may remember this .
