A Taste of Europe

Here are some glimpses of a few European touristy cities which we toured by road to get a taste of Europe.

We kick-off at Amsterdam- the capital of the Netherlands.

Amsterdam derives its name from the city’s origin as “Dam” of river “Amstel”.

Amsterdam is colloquially known as Venice of the North because of its lovely canals that criss-cross the city, its impressive architecture and more than 1,500 bridges. There is something for every traveller’s taste here; whether you prefer culture and history, serious partying, or just the relaxing charm of an old European city.

Amsterdam is a city of bicycles…

The Old City…The medieval centre and most visited area of Amsterdam. It is known for its traditional architecture, canals, shopping, and many coffeeshops.

The Canal Ring was dug in the 17th century to attract wealthy home owners. It is still a posh neighbourhood with many Dutch celebrities owning property. The Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein are the city’s prime nightlife spots.

The country of windmills…

Keukenhof (English: “Kitchen garden”), also known as the Garden of Europe, is one of the world’s largest flower gardens, situated in Lisse, Holland. Approximately 7 million flower bulbs are planted annually in the park, which covers an area of 32 hectares.

On to the show grounds…

In Amsterdam you should know the difference between a Coffee Shop (sells soft drugs) and a Koffee Bar ( No drugs)

Upon their return home from Amsterdam many tourists recount colorful stories of how they"accidentally" visited a coffeeshop (just like they “innocently stumbled into” the infamous Red Light District:)

Next a Rhine Cruise…Germany

The Rhine is one of the major European rivers, which has its sources in Switzerland and flows in a mostly northerly direction through Germany and Netherlands, emptying into the North Sea.

Between Bonn and Rüdesheim, the Rhine River shows off all of its beauty. The fascinating landscape encompasses rolling vine-clad hills that are crowned by medieval castles and fortresses, historic villages, rock formations steeped in legends, and monuments that commemorate the war-torn past of the region.

The Cologne Cathedral took 600 years to build. Its architecture is exquisite from outside and inside the cathedral.

The SWISS countryside is very beautiful and memorable - not just their watches and chocolates.

Lucern is a small city that represents all the beauty of Switzerland. Its 300 year old wooden chapel bridge is unique.

Lucern’s lake’s reputation precedes it.

Swiss Countryside

Mt Titlis offers great views of snow capped mountains, rugged ridges and glaciers.

Engelberg is village at the foot of Mt Titlis- you can see how pretty it looks from the aerial car.

Ice Flyers zoom you over deep gorges at frightening heights- your heart will jump to your mouth!

Next stop Paris: “The last time i saw Paris her heart was warm and gay; No matter how they change her, i’ll remember her that way!”

The Louvre Museum in Paris has 20 miles of corridors. If you want to see every exhibit, you will spend six months (without sleep)

The Notre Dame cathedral is a Catholic church with Gothic architecture. It is in Paris, on an island in the Seine river.

The Versailles Palace has been used used by French royalty from Louis XIV to Louis XVI - till the time of the French Revolution. After that it has been converted into a public museum.

The Seine River has more than thirty ornamental bridges as it runs through Paris.

From Paris we travelled to Paris of the East, Prague, capital of Czech Republic

Charles Bridge is the centre of gravity of Prague. You have to pass through it to go to any of the important tourist attractions of the city.

The Czech cuisine is a mix of French and Mediterranean delicacies.

The Old Town Square is at the heart of all tourist activity: Tourist Info center, tram terminus, lots of shops and restaurants.

Wenceslas Square

Cubism and Pablo Picasso

On the Vtlava River

This was our last stop. It was a very enjoyable and memorable trip in terms of sight seeing, dining and meeting people from different cultures. A rich experience which i cherish very much. I would recommend you go! God Speed!

Great and detailed post as always @Noimacki Thanks for the share!

One minor suggestion is to perhaps give a better overview in your introduction; mention the countries/places that your tour covers that you’ll be highlighting in your post and perhaps even give an aspiration of what you hope readers will gain from reading your post. This will not only set the expectations for your readers but also help set targets for yourself as to why you want to share this experience with others.

Hi @Noimacki ,

Thank you for sharing!

From reading through the post, it seems like we were on the trip with the family, as well. : ]

The details that you have collected is astonishing, would you mind sharing with us how do you keep on track with them?

Interesting observation, @AdrianLunsong , as I should be taking notes on that regard!

In the meantime, I find the element of surprise and learning bit by bit of the story is quite fascinating.

Hi @AdrianLunsong ,

Thanks for spotting the loose/ missing bricks in my post. This will help me better my posts.

In fact, based on your tutorials and feedback, i have made a 5- point check list for reviewing my posts before posting henceforth:

  1. Storyboarding the photo-essay
  2. Beginning with the right hooks ( Catchy Title & Mesmerizing Cover Photo)
  3. Looking for loose/ missing bricks in the story- like the ones you just pointed out.
  4. Connecting the dots **(**drawing attention to links between different photos/ events in the story)
  5. Putting Icing on the Cake- Finishing the post with fun facts about the overall topic/ event that will make it memorable.

Cheers!
