I really hope that are having a great week so far!
Today I want to share this post about this incredible farm , Howell Living History Farm, which is located in Mercer County, New Jersey, USA The area is located in the northeast of the state, in a place where forests, old houses and a quiet lifestyle predominate. A few weeks ago I was looking for a place where my daughters could do craft activities or things like that and that’s how I found out about the calendar of activities at this farm.
The activity we had to participate in was old-style potato harvesting. Afterwards we had to clean them by hand, wash them and finally cut them finely and fry them to turn them into French fries. At each stage, children’s participation is encouraged, so that they learn the cycle of transformation of things and the creation of value.
You can also visit the small farm houses, with many features, decorations and furniture from the beginning of the century. Similarly, children can wash small items of clothing and hang them on clotheslines, water plants and gardens, milk cows, feed other livestock, and so on. Super fun! … If you ever visit this area and want to do something different, this option is fabulous!
Quite an interesting experience @marcorp this sort of educational experience is well needed to help people understand farm life and how the food gets to their table and how things have changed in the recent history of the last couple of centuries.
@PaulPavlinovich exactly my friend. Nothing against arcades and laser tags but educational wise you get nothing out ofe those places, so I just wanted to mix it up a little bit, and provide a broader scope of life to my centennial daughters.
My father is also a farmer. We also have some land for cultivation. I also identify myself as a student even though I feel comfortable identifying myself as a farmer. But now as I am studying Physiotherapy I have to introduce myself as Physiotherapist after completing the course. Thank you @marcorp I hope we post about these farms and agriculture.
@KhokonSharker it’s very nice to read that, my friend My wife’s family used to be farmers back in the day as well. Lots of good lessons we can teach kids from a farmer’s life.
Hey! Your post about Howell Living History Farm sounds amazing! It’s great to discover places with craft activities for kids. If you ever find yourself needing farm equipment repairs, local services have been a lifesaver for me. Wishing you and your daughters more fun-filled days on the farm!
