Here in Indianapolis, we have plenty of hiking trails and parks that get people walking a lot especially in Summer and Fall. we have the Monon Trail that spans almost the entire Indianapolis city, the canal walk that has scenic views close to downtown, the Eagle Creek Park on the west side that attracts a large crowd of people to picnic and hike during summers.
however, i am going to talk about this small hiking park in north east indianapolis in town of Fishers called the Fishers heritage park.It is located off 106th street and Eller Road. this park is very local, people in the city may not be aware of it, but it is one of the pleasant places to visit during summer.
The entrance of the park is a narrow winding road that ends at a parking lot. to get to the park, you walk a few paces. the park itself has a big ring of asphalt road that can be used for walking, jogging or running. this ring road branches off into separate hiking trails into the woods that are fun to explore. they all connect back to the ring to finish.
after finishing the trail of walk or run, you can climb the small mountain to rest, where on top you would find a picnic bench. the bench provides a beautiful view of the whole ring road and the park.
I like this park a lot because it gives a serene and calm feeling that immediately relaxes me as soon i walk in the park.
if you are in Indianapolis/Fishers and have never been to this park, please visit it at least once this summer.
