I wanted to share a little story about the impact one of my contributions. Back in 2020, during the pandemic, I was taking an afternoon stroll when I noticed a small restaurant that wasn’t listed on Google Maps. I decided to take a moment to add the place to the map.
This morning, June 2, 2026, I received a notification, which I’ve shared in Screenshot 2nd image, that this listing has now surpassed 7,500,000 total views.
It is located in a very busy area, surrounded by various commercial and multinational company offices, as well as the Centro Vasco da Gama, shopping mall. To be honest, at the time, it felt like such a simple and ordinary contribution. I never imagined it would attract this much attention, but it is incredibly rewarding to know that this data is helping so many tourists and locals find the information they need.
It serves as a great reminder that even the smallest contributions can have a significant, lasting impact. If my contribution helps someone else navigate their day, that is a significant achievement for me.
