This looks like more work than it Is and I fail at brief succinct descriptions. If your cash gets endangered a bit before payday, this works unexpectedly well when wanting steak of a salad budget.
suggested items:
You need to have a grill, gas or the good kind either, and hickory chips soaked in water overnight, and a smoke box if gas.
For the prep you will want;
Pork Tenderloin (unseasoned)
Teriyaki or sweet Mediterranean sauce
3 TBS butter (needed to compensate for lean pork vs marbled beef)
1cup brown sugar
2 fingers of bourbon (or citrus if prefer)
Prep
Open and rinse tenderloin, before cutting away the slab of white fat. Then cut down the length for 1inch/13mm thick or more slabs. Then cut those into the size of steaks you want and set to the side.
Then mix all remaining ingredients in a medium-ish bowl to make the marinade and microwave at 30 sec intervals, until able to mix completely and almost room temperature. (Helps to present the full flavor). Add the meat inside of a large ziplock bag and poor the mixture over it, and let it rest in the fridge for 2 - 6 hours.
When almost ready to grill, drain the hickory chips and prep the grill with extra charcoal, if applicable. After the grill either reaches burner temperature for gas or embers for coal, throw in a smoker box for gas, or a moderate cover to coal. This is to prevent scorching and smokes in flavor while staying juicy. If you desire, microwave stretch film wrapped potatoes stabbed with a fork for vent holes for 5 min, and finish up on the grill. Everything should be finished grilling after 12-30 min flipped over half way through. Brush on more of the marinade before finished if you want to.
Enjoy it, and if you have leftovers, they are an absolutely exceptional breakfast or lunch sandwich.
