Wai – A Scenic Town Nestled in Satara

Wai is a town located in the Satara district of Maharashtra. Though small in size, it holds great cultural and historical significance. Situated on the banks of the Krishna River, the town is home to a beautiful and renowned temple of Lord Ganesha, popularly known as MahaGanpati. The surroundings of the temple are extremely picturesque and have served as a shooting location for many popular films.

If you’ve watched movies like Gangaajal, Swades, Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hai, Chennai Express, or the recently famous Chhava, you might be surprised to know that several scenes from these films were shot in Wai.

Despite its modest size, the riverbank (ghats) in Wai is truly captivating. While it may appear simple during regular days, it transforms into a visually stunning location during film shoots. On the way from Satara to Mahabaleshwar, this town falls en route, and even the ghat section leading from Wai to Mahabaleshwar has been featured in multiple movies.
Near Wai Dhom Dam is a point where also some shoots done.
In Panchgani many shoots done.

Wow, excellent photos and the post, @Supriyadevkar.
:grinning:

The translation I saw seems to be wrong, sir. It read, "I got married…instead of I had my thread ceremony." That’s very funny!! My apologies if I made any mistake writing it in Marathi.

Cheers!
