Rainbow Village, a 50-meter-long lane alley with various portraits, birds and buffalo painted on the wall, and the ground is full of rainbows, flowers and blessings.
And the story behind is very special. Huang Yong fu, a Hong Kong man who came here and joined the army but later settled in this village. In order to prevent the village from being demolished, he decided to start paint it.
In addition, as a visual designer, this place always inspires me.
Here is so incredibly pretty and full of painting.
That’s why I love this place so much!
Local guide program always makes me discover many things around my life, and share it with others is my responsibility!
I believe we can make the world better
At present, the rainbow village is still in progress
And so do I,
I will continue to work for the Local Guides program!
@Sangel that is a beautiful place… truly stands to its name of being a rainbow village. How far is it from the Taipei Airport. Are there any restaurants and cafes there? Which one is your favorite and would recommend to visitors?
Hello @Sangel
Thank you for introducing us to this wonderful village! I am a Japanese who likes Taichung.
As you say, the amazing thing is that only one old soldier protected part of the public housing with the power of art. Moreover, 90 years old! He is one of the people who has overcame ageism.
The distance between the airport and the village is about 150 kilometers.
There are no restaurants nearby, but the village sells speical tea eggs and rainbow popsicles, you can try it!
