As some of you might know, I check the view counts of all of my 8k photo contributions every day. For the first time since April 2024, none of my photos did see an increase of views within more than two days.
Did anybody else notice this now? I am not talking about the total views, which sometimes doesn’t change for several days, but I mean the count for individual photos, as shown under My Contributions in the desktop browser.
There is no way to check all photos in the mobile app, but I did scroll through the 50 latest and did not see any change neither.
Until three days ago, I always noticed an increase for some, i.e. between 1% and 15% of my photos every day.
Update as of Aug 7, 7:30 am:
Again no increase for any of my 3k+ photos
I saw changes (less than usual) on 08/3 and 08/6, but zero 08/4, 08/5 and 08/7.
Update as of Aug 7. 10:20 am:
Out of 8314 photos there wer 278 changes = 3.3% (19.916) increased. 4 first views"
I had a similar suspicion @WilfriedB, but I dont track if the photos which already have views are increasing or not. However, scrolling through my most recent photos, there are only 4 with views, out of the last 16 photos. There’s no pattern to it. One shows it was posted 4 days ago, 2 of them 6 days ago, and 1 states 1 week ago. The others are all stuck at 0.
I am looking for answer to this problem. Plus anytime when I try to remove people or car number plates from photos, specially those photos never get views. May be I doing something wrong at some point. Hope someone will help and guide
I have a list of my top 100 which I try to update twice a month. Based on the numbers from August 1st, some have actually changed by today’s date (August 5th), so I can’t say it isn’t working. But I don’t know if they changed yesterday or 3 days ago.
@tony_b I saw the last changes in the morning of Aug 3, but only 61 photos out of 8,269 published photos had increased views. This is less then 1 %. After that, all are stale until now. Just the flat zero for more than two days is new and makes me curious.
There are several potential reasons, why a photo or video doesn’t show any views:
The media is hidden by the SPAM filter. I can tell, 1,638 photos or videos of your 24,325 media contributions did not get published, @arbabnaseeb. In theory you could appeal for them, but once a human operator recognizes those many duplicate or redundant photos, I noticed at a glance,you might risk even more being hidden. So, what you can do? Delete all redundant and duplicate media.
The listing has already many other photos posted by others and yours got pushed way down in the list.
The photos did get views, but the databases are not updated yet. This is the topic of this post and we only can hope, it resolves soon. A similar, but more striking situation, we saw on Feb 7, 2024. After that, all media saw less increase of views, than it did before. So, I ma curious about what might be happening now.
I understand. I don’t have a record for August 3rd, so I don’t know if the changes this month happened on the 2nd or the 4th. And of course, my records are only for the top 100 of my list.

Hello @arbabnaseeb the first question, to find the number of hidden media (or reviews) is quite easy to respond to:
Copy the link to your Maps profile and share it either with a different Google user or open an anonymous session in a browser, paste your link without logging in with your profile (important!). Than open your profile und look for the number of photos and reviews. Those numbers indicate how many have been published (i.e. not hidden). The number with the photo symbol include photos and videos.
Then click on your photo and you the see the numbers, you contributed and you can calculate the difference:
Identifying the hidden media and reviews is more complicated: You need a second user profile and scroll in parallel two browser sessions. One being logged in with your profile, the other with somebody else’. That way you may identify, what you see, but other other one not.
I am curious to see, whether this is just a longer as usual, temporary delay when the updates happen or yet another big change in the background.
I’ll continue to check daily for changes and will let you know, if the views are increasing again. Please let me know too, if you notice some movements.

I also track some of my daily totals and have not seen any movement on individual photos or videos for 4 days which is unusual.
Could be a blip and this may change by tomorrow. Hope so , It may have helped in my race!!!

The good news:
Today, in the morning of Aug 6, 2026 I did see 88 changes of my 8314 photos. So it seems, it was just an unusual long delay only. Please check your contributions too.
Since only 1% of my photo contributions did show an increase within 4 days, this is less than what I usually see in one day. Three of the 88 were first time views (i.e. increased from zero) of posting done during the last three months.
