My favourite place is Belur Math and Mission. It is situated in Belur on the west bank of river Ganges in Kolkata. Belur Math is the Headquarters of the Ramkrishna Math and Mission founded by Swami Vibekanda, the chief disciple of Sree Ramakrishna Paramahansa In January 1897.The Beul Math is designed to celebrate the diversity of Indian religions. It is notable for its architecture that fuses Hindu, Christian, Islamic, and Buddhist art motifs as a symbol of unity of all religions. These Math and Mission are worldwide, non-political, non-sectarian spiritual organization which have been engaged in various form of humanitarian, social service activities for more than a century. The Monks and Devotees of the Math and Mission serve millions of people without any distinction of cast, religion because they think that god is living in them. Swami Vibekananda’s moto was “Jibe Prem kore Je Jon Se Jon Sebichey Iswar.” that mean “If you love the people you will love the GOD.”
The motto of the Belur Math and Mission are "ATMANO MOKSHRTHAM JAGAD HITAYA CHA.” For one`s salvation and for the welfare of the world.
This organization is based on work and worship, potential divinity of the soul and harmony of religions. Swami vivekanda emphasized on service to man as service to god.It provides different activities for the welfare of the society.It sustains large number of hospitals, dispensaries, mobile medical units, schools, colleges, libraries, museums, rural and tribal development centers and many social service institutions. Belur Math is a very peaceful place and perfect for nature lovers. There is no entry fees. It also provides free food or lunch for all. Lunch is very hygienic and very testy. Anyone can visit with elders as they have accommodation of wheel-chair, cold drinking water and clean bathrooms best sitting arrangements and beautiful garden and clean environment. It opens from 6.30 in the morning to 12.30 in the afternoon and again it opens from 3.30 to 8.30 pm. I think it is the best place to sit and meditate and I feel some special energy, completely stress free or I can say it is a place for refreshment of soul. It is really an amazing place.
