A picture is worth a thousand words | Me, My Travels and My Photos

Hi everyone, I’m Sachith Deshan, a Local Guide from Sri Lanka.

I believe a picture is the simplest, but most informative and prompt way of providing information effectively. As much as I love travelling I love photography too. I hope most of you will agree with me if I say travelling and photography is inseparable. So, what I love sharing most on Google Maps are obviously my photos.

My major adventures across the world includes USA, Europe, Asia and Australia. Google says I only have 20,029km more to the moon. I’m sure I’m going to make that too.

All my tours were well planned. For that I had to do a lot of research. I always want to pick the best attractions to visit meanwhile fitting into my budget and getting the maximum out of what I’m spending. Pictures of those places published by previous local guides has helped me the most in deciding where to go and where not to go.

Of course, it’s not the only factor to make a decision, I read the reviews, blogs and other sources too. But a picture can give you the initial impression. After all it has to be worth the visit. Pictures has inspired me a lot. So, I want my photos to inspire other travelers as well. I never forget to take my beloved Camera with me in all my trips. It has helped me collect all my wonderful memories. We are human beings, we forget things with time. But pictures carry every little single information. I have a collection of thousands of photos. I share the most informative ones as much as possible in Google Maps. I feel so proud when I see people like and talk about what I have shared. It brings me the same feeling as travelling does.Photos and reviews by Local Guides has helped me in many ways in all my travels. So, in return I should contribute to the community by sharing whatever the valuable knowledge I have gathered from travelling. I have spent long hours in front of my computer researching, reading reviews, blogs, articles, watching videos, doing the math and all to plan my tours wisely. Now that I have somewhat experience I hope my information could help others save their valuable time. Science and technology has made our lives much easier. Services are at our fingertips. But what do we do without accurate information? So as a Local Guide I believe my responsibility is to fill in those blanks. Being connected with others who has the same passion makes us a powerful community. I’m really proud of being a Local Guide and will keep continue to contribute my best towards the community.

I’m eagerly waiting to participate the Connect Live 2019 and meet the amazing local guides from all over the world. Hopefully see you there!
