Dubai is one of the most visited places in the United Arab Emirates. It’s possibly one of if not the most modern city in the Arab continent. This was my very first time visiting Dubai, sometime towards the end of last year. Sharing a story of how friends from different countries, meeting together, bonded through the Local Guides program. 2 of my best friends who are Local Guides in Dubai met up one late evening for exploration, food, and spending time until the very late night. @layeshmangatt @tittukrishnan who both live around the very popular Al Karama (https://goo.gl/maps/msc1WTXRDLL2UKND9) area in Dubai, UAE.
[Photo above] We met at the Al Karama metro station and our first activity for the night was to visit the Dubai Frame (https://goo.gl/maps/tkLDYMedpZnDkhhi6). It was a short walk there from the metro, and it was my first time seeing a structure so unique. It’s like just a huge rectangle which houses a visitor’s center. Although we didn’t go inside since it was quite late in the evening, we spent time appreciating the beauty of the iconic structure whilst watching traffic pass by underneath us at the Dubai Frame flyover bridge (https://goo.gl/maps/3J7veD14aqMuZBBV7 ). We must have spent close to 45 minutes there just chatting about everything Dubai. It’s a very scenic and picturesque spot for photos, especially for Google Maps.
[Photo above] We were walking back to Al Karama main area, and we passed by the beautiful Al Rahma Masjid (https://goo.gl/maps/P1gbGRZtFwdJmgf57 ). We took photos as best we could. It was just not far from the Dubai Frame flyover. I seemed to have noticed there are plenty of beautiful mosques all around Dubai. Great for shooting photos for Google Maps.
[Photo above] We were already famished when we got back to the main area, and we quickly got together with another friend and had our late evening dinner at the very popular and always busy Gate of Karama restaurant (https://goo.gl/maps/f49yRtnHUYxzXMbs8 ). We had masala idli and masala porota, which was really delicious and spicy. It’s hard not to miss, since we are all Malabaris eating Malabar food
. As Local Guides, we took lots of photos and wrote reviews for the place as we were enjoying the spicy food.
[Photo above] What to do after a big dinner? We went shopping, that’s what. Where best to go shopping that at the very popular Hypermarket chain all over UAE, Lulu Hypermarket at Karama (https://goo.gl/maps/jJrXnediqya8NE9Y6 ). Visiting here brings us closer back to home. Well, all 3 of us feel home in Karama.
[Photo above] We had more time together sipping tea right up till very wee hours of the morning.
Local Guides is a worldwide program that brings people from different places together. Friendships made last a lifetime. Thanks to local Local Guides who are always willing to extend a hand so others who visit can find the best places to visit in the best time.
