Recently, I was invited to speak to a community group of “Seniors” 50+ (not for profit), who were really interested in learning all about Local Guides. This event really turned out to be one of the most rewarding things that I have ever done. This lovely group of mature citizens were really excited about the concept of giving back to their community by fixing errors and sharing their experiences in Reviews on Google Maps. They already have a tight community, so I asked them to show their excitement about getting started in this video (attached). The feedback was so positive and with their networking, I have been asked to share with another group of Seniors in another suburb of Auckland. Watch out Auckland ‘Grey Power’ are joining Local Guides!
Hi Blanche @BlancheMc
Well done. A very impressive initiative.
Wishing you good luck and my best wishes.
Cheers
Thanks @Badruddeen it was really fun!!
What a good opportunity you had
to present
That looked like fun they seemed to enjoy themselves and excited😀
inspiring even its 10 sec @BlancheMc
Hey @BlancheMc !
This is great and I see you’re still taking full advantage of your specs! Sadly I can’t find my cable to charge it
What a cool meet up experience! I’m going to move this over to the meet-up subforum so that it can inspire others looking to organize a meet up.
Thanks @DshottDennis it really was a lovely day. This community of Seniors were just adorable people and so keen to learn and contribute.
Thanks @Shirley I tried to set this event up as an official meet-up (so I could show them all how easy it is to join a meet-up and organise their own). Unfortunately it was disallowed. I think it was because they thought it was a paid event (which it wasn’t). Never mind I will try again next time.
Yes, the Snapchat specs are fun but I really don’t use them as much as I could. Now there is a challenge for me. I cant wait until I can load video into Maps from my iphone and snapchat specs. That will be really cool.
Thanks @OSAMA This video was taken on Snapchat Spectacles which only takes short videos. Just enough to capture the mood of the occasion.
Hello @BlancheMc wish you all the best…
Hey @BlancheMc : Sorry to hear that the meet-up wasn’t approved. Sponsored events are actually now possible (ie. where the business provide small discounts or complimentary products). Check out the guidelines here in this post.
