A mesmerising trip to North East India and my journey as a Google local Guide

hi I am Dr Rishi Sethi a practising Allopathic doctor specialising in Ophthalmology . I am a tech enthusiast and love browsing internet for last 15 years since the day i had my first computer .Besides technology , traveling also excites me. I tavelled a lot with my parents in my childhood and during my teens i was occupied with pre medical studies and then i got enrolled in to Medical school which again took away the pleasure of travelling as i was again giving ward leaving and professional exams of MBBS . After my graduation i enrolled as a post graduate resident in Ophthalmology in one the leading institutes of the country in New Delhi.

Now after all my studies i got married and resumed my job in Indian government Railway Medical Services. Now here came the ever exciting opportunity to travel to different parts of the country and i chose North east India as my field training which i went along with my wife and two other fellow couples.

I love google maps app as it is a must have in your android phone , it not only incorporates the navigation stuff , it lets you find out the nearest petrol pump , restaurant and even allows you to rate them up.

This feature really helps a lot in deciding where you want to fill gas and your stomachs . i also started posting my own reviews of places i visited , food i ate , pictures i took and any problem i faced in navigation.

The google kept rewarding me and my interest in being a local guide made me even more hungry for the question answers , reviews and feedbacks . when people started reading my reviews and seeing my photos i became a leve 6 local guide with more than a lakh views on my pictures.

Moving over to my trip to North East India ,it comprises of seven states and therefore aptly called as seven sisters. The natural beauty is untouched and gives a heavenly experience . I happen to visit Guwahati , shillong , cherrapunji , Dawkey , Indo Bangladesh Border .

In Guwahiti we went to kamakhya temple , one of the 52 shakti peeths of hinduism, photography inside the temple is prohibited and there is a huge line of devotees which may take hours to reach the main “garb griha”

or the sanctum sanctorum of temple. It is believed that mata sati after her demise was carried by shivaji and his anger had no bounds then all other Gods divided mata sati’s body into 52 parts which got spread over Indian land and Kamakhya temple happens to be the built over the Pelvic or reproductive part of her body.

Then we planned our trip to Shillong , Cherrapunji which receive highest rainfall in India. The beauty of these hilly areas have no bounds esp the Elephant Caves ,Seven sister falls , Living Root Bridge .

During night time we visited the Police Bazar area of Shillong which has a full blown market with flea market along the roadside , the street food is yum and we had snacks at very renowned Madras Cafe.

Next day we devoted to Dawkey , a small town near India Bangladesh Border and has beautiful Gyonghat river flowing . There we took amazing pictures over the boat of the silent and clean water , the sunset and came back.

Last day we went to Cherrapunji and since the weather was not clear we could not much appreciate the natural scenic beauty .
