Visiting Lady Liberty stays in everybody’s wish.
Going there will be out of bounds for some time. Nevertheless, refreshing the old memories can substitute that surely!
Although we travelled to New York through a self-drive car, we purchased the duration pass of the subway to duck the city traffic.
On the day of the visit, we entered the nearest station only to realize stepping onto a platform in the opposite direction.
Correcting that error proved to be challenging as the barrier gates refused re-entry within a brief span.
After moving 4-5 stations, the train came to an indefinite halt. Reason? Somebody found to be walking on the tracks!
Ultimately, forsaking that, we hired a cab & reached the battery park.
Like so, with many delays, we arrived at the ticketing window & converted the booking into a wristband.
I appreciated that idea of easy identification of a prospective visitor.
The subsequent event was going through an extended line of the security check. Fortunately, the queue moved briskly.
The security arrangement was like the one at any airport.
Comparatively, the ferry ride was uneventful.
After a stroll in the garden circling the statue, we entered another security check.
At long last, we reached the base of the figure.
The view of the surrounding was awe-inspiring.
Now next, the ascent up to the head through the spiral stairway.
That was pretty exhausting.
Plus, there was a constant fear of receiving a hit from the person above or vice versa!
A thought came to the mind, why the donors did not top up the gift with an elevator?
But then, how can one see the world through the eyes of lady Liberty, without any struggle?
