I went out to the Sunderbans for two nights and three days with the Bengals Tours Limited, one of their picturesque ship. What a great trip! It was a team building tour with office mates, and the crew was great!
Over the course of the three days, we became acquainted with the magnificent mangrove islands and found out so much about the lives of the people that live there. They have an incredibly difficult life.
We had a nature guide on board, and we also stopped at a great interpretive centre and several wildlife viewing sites where we saw wild boar, monitor lizards, spotted deer, kingfishers…and,
on the second day…we did see a big crocodile! He was laying on the beach and we got a very good look at him! This was very exciting.
But even if we hadn’t seen him, it was a super trip. Great food, the eco village was lovely and fit in so well with the village. We walked around the tidy village and the people were really nice. I slept on board the ship and it was very cozy, a good mattress and lots of warm clean blankets. It was foggy at night and in the early part of the morning, and it was lovely sleeping on the ship in the mist. On the last day, we came back just at dusk, a beautiful time to be on the water and take pictures. I’d love to go again!
