A memorable meet-up (128th) in the historical city of broken bricks!

Panam City always attracts me to visit this beautiful place again and again. This city has some special magic inside which allure people to come and see its beauty. Not only the beauty of it attracts people to come but also its architectural value has a fascinating power to think of this city. So when the date and venue for 128th meet-up of Bangladesh Local Guide was published, I did not take more than a second to decide to attend this meet up.

Due to winter’s short day time we were in a rush to start and end our meet-up timely. We had a very tight schedule to complete all the segments of this nice meet-up. As all the local guides were very cordial so we were able to complete everything timely. Moreover, we added an extra sport event that was not in our schedule. Special thanks go to the host of this nice meet-up @MehadeHasan .

Pre first session of the meet-up starts at Dhaka. Attendees from Dhaka met in front of Maulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium. Our time was 9 am to start from Dhaka. 9 local guides started from Dhaka. Before starting from Dhaka we discussed about some local guide related issue for 10 minutes then we started accordingly.

Session 1: Goaldi Mosque

Our first session of the meet-up started with a short tea session at Tripordi bus stand which is also known as Chaity Gate After the tea session we started our journey towards our first location Gaoldi Mosque We started to walk through a beautiful village. On our way we added some important places in the map. Took some photos to add to the map as well. Then after walking around 15 minutes we reached to the Goaldi Mosque, a historical masterpiece of Sultans of Bengal. This historical Mosque was established in 1519. During the reign of Sultan Alauddin Husain Shah of Bengal Mulla Hizabar Akbar Khan established this beautiful mosque. We are briefed about the mosque from the care taker and some local people. Our host Magede Hasan also provided us a lot of information about the mosque. This mosque is no more used for prayer purpose rather it is used as an architectural and tourist spot. We spent here 45 minutes. After the Goaldi Mosque, we started walking to out next spot Panam City.

Session 2: Panam City

After walking another 20 minutes (aprx.) we reached to the gate of the historic Panam City. On our way we discussed about some map related issue. Took some photos and added to the map. Before entering into the Panam city we took some snacks in a restaurant and a short discussion session took place here. After the refreshment we entered into the Panam city. Ticket cost was 15 taka per person.

When I entered the city I felt a thrill inside me. Though it was not my first visit but this time I entered into this historic city as a local guide with many other local guides. It’s really a new experience for me. As it was a weekly holiday, so many other local and foreign tourists gathered and made a full festive mood inside the city. We took photos of the historic buildings. After taking the photos we sat in an open field and started our main discussion session which was mainly questions and answers. Lot of questions regarding the Google map and Connect Forum were asked by the attendees and they were answered nicely by Mahabub Hasan and Arafatul Islam. After the discussion session, we went for lunch.

During lunchtime, we shared our experiences. We heard the interesting stories and experiences of our local guides. One hour was allocated for lunch which was fully enjoyable and a great chance to know each other very closely.

Session 3: Sonagaon Museum

After lunch we went to the Sonagaon Museum Complex. Ticket costs 50 taka each to enter into the complex. We enjoyed the fair of handicrafts items and cultural programs held in the field of the complex. It was a bonus for us. We saw lot of items made by our local manufacturer which we have never seen. It was really a new and amazing experience to us. We saw a lot of foreigners enjoying the local cultural programs and traditional sports events in the fair.

After cruising the fair field we entered into the museum complex. Inside the museum we saw many artifacts that were made years ago. We took photos inside and after that, we came out to the field in front of the museum. After that we had the final session of the 128th meet-up. It was the group photo session and start our journey to home.

Fruits, Foods, Flowers, and Fun:

Inside the Panam city, we see many kinds of fruits which were sold by the villagers from nearby areas.

They were also selling various kinds of sweet and sour pickles which we bought and ate there. We were very lucky that due the annual cultural fair we saw many traditional foods in this meet-up. If we did not attend this meet-up it was really impossible for us to see and taste the delicious traditional foods of Bangladesh.

During the whole meet-up I saw some flowers here and there. On the other hand, inside the complex, we saw many beautiful flower which are loved by the tourists especially the kids. During the whole meet-up we enjoyed a lot. Our technical sessions were also conducted with a mix of fun so that we did not feel bored even for a second.

And finally some interesting moments:

What we learned: A lot of technical issue were discussed elaborately. Some important tips and tricks were also given by senior local guides of Bangladesh. Some technical problem were solved instant. Necessary instructions were given to the new local guides regarding what to do and not to do as a local guide. We also learned what is called spamming in Google Map and the ways to avoid it and many more.

Hi @MukulR ,
I am very glad that the meet-up of local guides was successful. I am shocked by how many local guides come to the meet-up. And what struck me even more was the fact that this is the 128th meeting in Panama City. As I understand it, being a local guide in Bangladesh is very popular. Well, the city of Panama itself and its ancient mosque are very beautiful.

Hello @katydarhel ,

A total of 21 local guides joined this nice meet-up at Panam City. It was not the 128th meet-up at Panam city rather it was the 128th meet-up by Bangladesh Local Guides. We do our meet-ups in different places and this time Panam City was one of them. Yes, Panam city is a very popular tourist destination in Bangladesh. It is famous for its natural beauties and the nice old buildings which were built years ago. Thanks for your nice comments. Regards.
