A look back to my very first article on Connect

My first article was a very personal post about Koh Songsaa private island where I visited with my friend late 2018. When @Velvel posted about reviewing the first post to celebrate Connect 5th Year, it encourages me to rewrite about the island. However, to go back into the post is not easy for me. I have posted over 200 articles since my first start in Connect which is about a year a four months ago.

Koh Songsaa is the new name given to the old name: Koh Oun, Koh Bong (Brother & Sister’s island, the two small islands nearby each other) where Koh Rong (the biggest one nearby is like mother). However, Koh Songsaa (means sweetheart island) is the name given by the Australian couple who bought it from a man for only 15,000USD about almost a decade ago. The resort is ranked #1 of Luxury and Exclusive. It is a perfect place for honeymooners or those who love privacy or quietness from the outside world. It has the absolute nature surrounding. It is rather small islands which you can kayak about 20mns to go around one of them. However, there are incredibly beautiful underwater creatures. Koh Songsaa in other words, is the reserve which means that no fishing is allowed in 200 meters around the island and this provides the opportunities for guests to enjoy the best snorkeling experience ever.

  • There are 2-3 types of villa offers to guests, costs from 800$ - 5,000$ per night: hill villa or ocean villa and there are around 15 of them.
  • There is an infinity pool looks direct to the sea
  • There is an open air restaurant which looks straight to the Koh Rong island
  • It needs prior-booking as it is almost always full.
  • It provides discounts during rainy season or low season from April to October [like 40% off, but you have to book for 2nights up]. Website of the place is here.

Since the first post, I improved my content a lot. I even got 9 articles being featured on Friday Favorites which is a very rewarding moment.

I knew little about Connect when I first joined in the program so I started writing out of a blue. I thought this place was an incredibly beautiful among all the places I visited around Cambodia so I wanted to share it to others. It is one of the top beautiful places in Cambodia.

The feedback was very inspiring and motivational. LGs who read it really amazed with the beauty of the place. What’s more, while writing an article I also wrote review to the resort and got a very pleasant reply:

identifier.html (768 KB)

However, through time and by writing many articles, I believe that I have improved my contents and the ways I present my ideas since this first posts. I could tell more relevant stories, rather than just personal story. I could bring new knowledge and more interesting stories into the platform. After all, Connect is not Social Media.

Thank you for participating in this week 4 writing challenge @Sophia_Cambodia

Congratulations for writing 200+ posts on Connect within a year! This is such a big achievement that you should proud of yourself :tada:

Since I wrote many posts already on Connect (but you wrote more), I know how hard it is to find you first post. But it was fun, right?

Keep up the good work and happy sharing!

Btw, could you please re-upload the second photo?

It appears just like this :

Thanks!

Dear @Velvel yes of course dear, I am very proud of myself for having the commitment to write continuously and come this far. Thank you for the congratulations.

Well, it was hard to go through the posts until the first but it was fun like you said! However, I organized my posts often so it helped me a lot when tracking back on any articles. It is convenient for me that way!

I used URL when uploaded the second photo and I could see them fine, I don’t know why you cannot view it?

Thank you @AbdullahAM it has been a great journey with all support from other Local Guides like yourself. I still enjoy writing and sharing.

Oh, and how long have you been on Connect?

I like the way you organize your post into categories @Sophia_Cambodia

Well done!

Oh yes, I still can’t see it until now. Perhaps I need a second “eye” to help me see it.

@indahnuria @ErmesT Can you guys see the second photo in this post?

Hehe, @Sophia_Cambodia , you started with a great post. This is not so usual

Thanks for asking @Velvel

No, I can’t see the photo. Sophia, when you embed a photo using the URL, make sure that the photo is publicly accessible (e.g. if you use a photo from your Google photos, share it public first). You will see the photo in any case because it is obviously visible for your account.

My tip is to always check the post in anonymous, when we embed a photo

I guess it is the case, they are not public. Let me check it at Google Photos.

Hi @Sophia_Cambodia what a lovely place it is it the place give me feels about Maldives. Ocean Vila with a private swimming pool which can cost like fortunes.

Is this place very expensive to visit or it is affordable…?

How much does it cost for a weekend?

Thank you @Pratik_89 in low season, it is about 535$/night but you have to book for 2 nights Min. In high season, it could be from 800$-5,000$/night depends on types of villa (by the pool or by the sea or on mountain). So in short, it is one of the high end resort in Cambodia.
