From the first moment I found this program, I helped as much as I could, because it helped me to pass my difficult moments, give a break and appreciate places I had never believed existed.
Hello everyone! I’m a Mexican named Carlos, who lives on the southern side of Mexico in an indigenous town, called Tuxpan, Jalisco.
For me, the local guides program is a potential tool, that through the support of each of those who are part of this, make a potential impact on society, because, beyond the typical, Google maps are an essential part of many that are not well off economically, to know places through the big photos of local guides, to not be lost in huge cities or to know where to look for affordable places.
The way I met Google maps was in one of the most difficult moments of my life because my dad wasdiagnosed with a brain tumor. He had to be transferred to a special hospital in the city, where we had never been. But Google Maps was there, to help me move around the whole time my dad was in the hospital, to make me forget a little about the family problem while I looked at the photos of different places, amazed and thankful for those people who had captured them. I remember there were times when I used to look for nice places near the hospital, so I could go and clear my mind, and that gave me a lot of energy.
After 3 months in the hospital, we managed to return to our little town, with my dad a little better, but without the possibility of going back to work, that’s when my mom and I needed to look for a possibility of generating income for the family, It was there that we decided to start a small sewing business, however, we needed to generate a flow of clients, so I researched them, and discovered the advantages of registering a business on Google maps, and so it was, by registering them little by little customers were arriving.
And so it was like Google Maps, it has helped me quite a lot in my life, and how each member of the local guide program has been a part of this.
That’s why I chose to be a local guide because I want to give you back some help. Also because I know there are people out there who will be very supportive of this, who will help them to know an unknown part of the world, or even of their locality.
