A Lifeline During Lockdown - The Power of Saved Lists in Google Maps 💙

2020 was tough. In Rajkot, like everywhere, access to medical resources became critical. Seeing the panic, I used Google Maps’ Saved Lists to create digital first-aid kits for my community. :family_man_woman_girl_boy:

I made shared public lists for: :spiral_notepad:

  1. COVID19 Hospitals :hospital:
  2. Medical Stores :pill:
  3. Doctors 👨‍⚕
  4. Laboratories :microscope:
  5. Surgical Instrument Dealers :medical_symbol:
  6. Medical Oxygen Suppliers :lungs:

It wasn’t just about listing; it was about providing crucial details that could save lives.

When people reached out in WhatsApp groups, I simply shared the relevant list link. Game changer! People instantly accessed accurate info, saving precious time. I remember helping a family find oxygen quickly - moments like these showed the real impact. The community even helped me keep the lists updated!

Important Note: It’s worth mentioning that some of the hospitals listed, particularly those temporarily set up in hotels during the peak of the Covid crisis, may no longer be operational. Medical resources change frequently, so it’s always best to double-check current availability before relying solely on these lists. While the lists were incredibly helpful during the emergency, some information may now be outdated.

Google Maps’ Saved Lists became a vital resource during a critical time. It showed me the power of local guides and community collaboration. It’s amazing how a small effort can make a big difference. :bulb:

What I learned:

  • Organized info is powerful. :information_source:
  • Community collaboration is key. :person_tipping_hand:
  • Local guides can make a real impact. :muscle:

I encourage you to explore Saved Lists! You never know when it might be a lifeline. :ring_buoy:

Here’s how to create your own:

  1. Click on “You” Icon as shown in image on Google Maps
  2. Create a new one by tapping “New list.”

What lists would you create to help your community?

Certainly agree with you, @KetanChhaniyara . I got this community because of the pandemic.

Whenever I had a chance to go out, it was easy for me to capture storefronts or do some edits about the locations, stores, etc., since there were fewer crowds and no one stopped me. :grinning:

Nice topic, actually. Thanks for sharing with us.

Cheers!
