The Shibuya crossing is a landmark and tourist spot in Tokyo famous for its open and all-way pedestrian crossing. I wish I could visit there some day.
During my visit to Seattle in June 2023, I experienced a similar all-way pedestrian walk-way in the heart of the town.
This is at the crossing of Pike and 1st Ave streets.
The inset in the photo below shows the sign for the ALL-WAY WALK.
Many famous landmarks are located at this crossing.
Here’s the Green Tortoise Hostel where I stayed. It is an amazing hostel studded with tourist-friendly features at very economical rates.
This photo is taken from the median on the Pike Street looking towards the iconic Pike Public Marketplace.
The market and the square are peaceful places where people shop and roam around carefree.
No need to rush to the mountains to seek peace and for relaxation.
It can be experienced right here in the heart of a bustling metro like Seattle.
Here’s a view from the corner of the information center looking towards the First Starbucks that is diagonally opposite the street.
This is the view from inside the Starbucks outlet.
Another glamorous view of the Green Tortoise Hostel standing outside the Pike Public Marketplace.
A special place on this corner of the all-way crossing is the Seattle Hoodies Shop where one can customize their cloth when purchasing.
There is also a vending machine for collectible Pennies outside the shop.
This place never gets boring. The vibes of this place are captivating.
This is the widest view of the All-Way crossing in Seattle with an attractive red public clock in the distant far, very rare in this part of the World.
Comparatively in Europe, and also in India, such large clocks are seen prominently in marketplaces.
Here’s another view that shows the All-Way crossing sign clearly.
Finally, here’s a view from a below street level arriving out of the Post Alley which is probably the filthiest tourist place in the world.
In spite of being an all-way crossing, the Pike Street marketplace is not chaotic.
Tourist from all over the globe flock here and mingle with the locals.
Such a calm and serene place, I spent an entire afternoon people-watching here.
