A hungry Hungarian in Budapest - why I love being a local guide

I’ve always loved exploring the local gastronomy, trying new combinations, flavors, textures. When I experience something cool, I always tell my friends and family about them in a way that they want to go there immediately, so they suggested me to become a food blogger. The blog isn’t published yet, but that was the point I decided to be a local guide. I’m a bit new here, but I’m doing my best to write recommendations about the places that really worth trying and I’m trying to give all the details a future customer may be interested in, so I take photos and try to explain what was on my plate and how I felt while I was having it, but in a relatively straightforward way. Recently I also made a food map with all my top favorite restaurants in the city and I hope that I’ll always be able to keep adding more wonderful places.

Since then many restaurants expressed gratitude towards my reviews and due to my e-mails, a lot of people are interested in my reviews, so I’m happy that I can help with it. I used to suffer finding the really good places, but now that I know this feature, it’s much easier for me, especially now that Google automatically recommends new places that are similar to my favorite ones! It’s actually good for everyone: for me because of the new recommendations; for other users because they get many different opinions from former customers so they can decide where and what to eat without actually going miles and it saves them from disappointment; and of course for the restaurants too, a happy customer is the best marketing they could get!

Since the reviews can be seen anywhere, the positive effect is already perceptible. The places get feedback constantly so there’s always motivation to improve, which makes them want to be the best they can be. Hence everyone can find the best places easily, more and more people do so, and after the great experiences they always want to go to the good places. In the last few years there’s a lot going on in the Hungarian gastronomy: there are already 6 Michelin star restaurants in Budapest, quite a few ones with other prestigious awards and many of the non-quality places needed to close or improve in order to stay open, and this increasing quality is something I truly love!

Of course my point of view is only a small slice of the whole picture, but I think that what I just said through my personal experiences is also true in general, so thank you for making the world a better place, I’m happy to be part of it!

I’ve listed some of my top favorite places on a map, so if you’re hungry in Budapest, don’t worry, just follow this link and enjoy.
