Delhi’s monsoon showers have a special charm. And for me, they always call for one thing—a hot plate of pakoras and a cup of tea. So, when the rains arrived, a visit to the iconic Triveni Terrace Café felt almost mandatory.
While the pakoras were as comforting as ever, something else on the table immediately caught my attention—the beautiful green glasses in which water was served.
At first glance, they looked elegant and rustic. But their story is even more fascinating. These glasses are crafted from recycled alcohol bottles by Kavi Pottery, a social enterprise founded on the idea of transforming discarded glass bottles into functional and artistic products. Instead of ending up in landfills, these bottles are given a second life as glasses, lamps, planters, and other handcrafted items.

Every great journey has a birthplace, and for Kavi – The Poetry-Art Project, it was a quiet afternoon at Delhi’s beloved Triveni. Sitting at the Triveni Tea Terrace over hot chai and conversations, founders Madhuri, Soumya, and Amit first envisioned a movement that would weave together poetry, craft, and sustainability.
The Green Glass collection introduced at Triveni serves as a nostalgic tribute to where it all began. Upcycled from reclaimed wine and liquor bottles, these vibrant green glasses turn thrown-away waste into functional art. Each piece reflects Kavi’s core promise—that sustainability can be poetic, grounded, and beautiful.
Serving as a full-circle moment, these green glasses celebrate the spirit of artistic community, thoughtful living, and the enduring charm of Triveni.
In a city that generates enormous amounts of waste every day, small initiatives like these demonstrate how the principles of a circular economy can be woven into everyday experiences. By reusing discarded materials, energy consumption is reduced, waste is diverted from landfills, and customers are gently reminded that sustainability can be both practical and beautiful.
