A Great American Breakfast in LA

&Waffles (read : And Waffles) at Lankershim Boulevard is only located 1,2 miles / for about 2 km and 7 minutes from Universal Studios Hollywood. Before enjoying our fun day at “the coolest place on earth” a.k.a. Universal Studios, firstly we stopped here to have an American breakfast. &Waffles is quite strategic where there is street parking and parking lot area beside it.

We came here on Friday morning around 9AM, and this small restaurant was crowded. We waited until got seated for about 7 minutes. They serve variant of American breakfast, such as Sausage & Eggs,Ham & Eggs, Bacon & Eggs, Belgian Waffles, Pancakes, Omelettes, Sandwiches, Burritos, and many more. The waitress is so friendly and informative. She could explain us clearly about the menu. And as the common American restaurant, &Waffles also serves free cold iced mineral water.

Here are what we tried :

Chicken Waffle Sandwich (USD 13.50)
Served on two separate plates. The first plate is a thick and tender crispy boneless chicken with two sunny side up eggs, whereas the second plate is the waffle with strawberry, sugar, whipped cream, and maple syrup.
So, how to eat this? Do we need to finish the first plate, then continuing to the second plate?
No, you do not need. We could taste them at the same time. Cut the cajun chicken, egg, then cut also the waffle, dip into the thick and less sweet maple syrup. After that, eat it all together. It is a good combination of savory and sweet taste.

Nutella Crepe Waffle (USD 10.50)

Time for the sweet in this breakfast ?
We tried a soft crepe filled with Nutella, sprinkled with sugar, chocolate paste, and whipped cream. This one also tastes great! I love the US Nutella with a dominant chocolate taste.

There is a photo spot on the wall outside &Waffles where is painted waffles in a couple of wings shaped with the text “LOS ANGELES LOVES &WAFFLES”.

&Waffles is totally recommended to have a great American breakfast.

Have you tried American Breakfast before? What is your favorite? Please share here :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @Velvel ,

It’s one of my favorite types of breakfast! I love the waffles and pancakes, yummy! I almost always have them with chocolate and banana or strawberries. Was this your first time at this location? What did you think of their breakfast options? Which plate did you like most? :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks so much for sharing!

Hi @Nyainurjanah

Hahaha… That’s a common experience for a foreigner, especially when the food and language are not familiar at all. To prevent the “wrong” food coming that doesn’t meet our expectation at all, I think we should ask the waiter/waitress about what the recommended food is, what ingredients that they use, and many more. Don’t be shy or hesitate to ask!

Hi @DanniS

Wow, that’s an awesome combination of waffles or pancakes along with the chocolate and fruits! Have you ever made the American breakfast by yourself?

Yup, this was my first time to be here. This place is totally crowded by the locals. Since the breakfast options are so interesting, at first, I got confused which one to choose. Hahaha…

From the name &Waffles, it means that waffles is their speciality, so that I won’t miss it. Three of the plates are great! If I have to choose, I would like the sweet one. So, I love the waffle along with the maple syrup and the Nutella Crepe Waffle.

@Velvel ,

Yeah I have, but mostly with pancakes because I still don’t have a waffle machine. Do they have other options to choose from? :slightly_smiling_face:

I love a good American breakfast @Velvel - My favorite is chicken fried steak. Although these days I have to limit myself from eating those. Such a guilty pleasure :stuck_out_tongue:

@iyudhi hahaha that’s right. American food tastes great, but since it is high in calories, so it is better to control the consumption :')

That looks absolutely scrumptious! Yum! I love eggs and waffles. Sometimes I would have oatmeal instead. Thanks for sharing, @Velvel

Delicious post @Velvel I preferred sweet options for breakfast. Waffles and crepes are the best to me, with Nutella and Maple Syrup even better.

Thanks for sharing.

Greetings.
