Warning: Before you start reading this, feel lucky that is my first post ever! (I feel sorry for you wih my bad grammar). Let’s start.
Religion in Mexico is something serious to talk. The Catholic Christianity is the dominant religion, around 89% of the total population (2010 Religion in Mexico). It notorius that central Mexico (Guanajuato is located in this area) remains as one of the most Catholic areas in the world (Impressive isn’t?) and its history through the centuries since the spanish conquest is really interesting but that a story for another day. I’m starting with this to make you notice how important is for local people this celebration.
Our celebration started about midday on Good Friday, where we commemorate the journey of Jesus previous to his death. People gather at the main church to wait for the caravan that transport an statue of Jesus (other places in Mexico have a living actor, that is physically prepared during a whole year to resist the journey), here is considered an honor to carry Jesus.
During night, the crucifixion and death will take placeLet me share a few pics of the end
