A Foodie's Tale

Hello!

My name is Rosemarie Aderinto, a level 6 Local Guide in Abuja, Nigeria -West Africa (the most populous black nation :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: ).

I joinned the Local Guide programme about five (5) years ago, when I had no idea what the programme was all about. As time went by, I discovered the more I read about it, the more my reviews were being read or liked and how helpful they are to others, the more involved I wanted to become. And since it involved me showing and writing (by way of reviews) what I was/ am interested in, I went head long into it.

As you can deduce from my title, I am a Foodie! I love eating delicious meals, I love ‘experimenting’ as well with unknown cuisines.

A majority of my photos are food based. I love savouring my pallettes. I also love recommending restaurants to my family and friends. I am being called upon for advise on where to go to by them. It gives me joy that they listen to my recommendations most of the time.

I cook as much as I love eating out. In the course of doing just that I have come to take lots of photographs especially as I can share them on the local guide programme.

What The Local Guides Programme Means To Me:

Dinner at Cityview Restaurant, Abuja, Nigeria (Boiled Potatoes, Grilled Boneless Chicken, Humus with meat etc)

The local guides programme has sharpened my skills in how I go for my phone to snap pictures of meals displayed anywhere I am, be it an eatery or my house (sometimes, when I finish cooking and the colours are appealing to my eyes, I snap away…).

It has enabled me to want to share with friends and the whole world the beauty (art) in food and dining…the beauty in nicely dispplayed dishes…

Over the years, I have learned quite a lot from the programme…some of the different cultures and foods from other nations, the art of photography, places of interests etc…I also learn, as times goes on, about places in my region that I am unaware of (It’s said we can’t always know it all).

The Local Guides Programme is a wonderful opportunity that enables me to learn about diverse people and for people to learn about me and my culture, it is also provides me an opportunity to review businesses I have come across. Some of the businesses have commented on my reviews and I know I’m doing a positive thing as some have taken advice(s) that I’ve given.

Seeing the number of people that have viewed my posts (photos) or liked my reviews is so inspiring, it makes me want to contribute more.

By and large, the Google Local Guides Programme is a breath of fresh air in the sense that I am doing what I love doing without any recourse to me…And I get a chance to compete with some of the most interesting and intelligent people ever.

I get to be in a competition too that can afford me the opportunity of being in the same place with people from all over the world -how cool is that?
