There is a famous temple in Bhubaneswar called Lingaraj Temple.
I have tried to upload some photos to the place as I have recently been to there.
I searched for the place but didn’t find it.
I knew the place exists as I have previously uploaded many photos and added review too.
Upon investigating I found that the place has been renamed and deleted.
In the above image the name is Fish paradise but all the details are of the temple and the local language label also says Lingaraj temple.
The place has thousands of photos and 5784+ reviews

What happened?
My assumption:
Someone has changed the place name from Lingaraj Temple to Fish Paradise and that got approved.
After that other local guide has marked that place as deleted and the place got deleted.
I am not blaming anyone but as locaguides we should responsible and not just edit/approve everything for points.
Now I can see the place as Fish Paradise which is closed permanently and has all the photos and reviews. (see above image)
or
may be the two location has been merged.
I have reported that place is open but the place name also need to be changed. Lets see what happens.
Google maps should have a direct contact for critical issues.
I hope someone from google can ans better and fix the issue.

Now the issue is fixed. People think it is done by automatically or by Google. Please read the solution to know actually when happened

Very well explain, your query is solved, now lingraj temple available are live.
Sometimes bug created automatically by google map. Just like we are facing google street view panos not connected(linked) over a month.
Lingraj temple is big tourism route from puri to bhubaneshwar. Many more tourist & NRI came for see old archeaology. But lingraj temple trust not allowed any small pocket wallet & cameras, mobile. I recenlty been there on 23 January.
One more thing is lingraj temple having owner access, they should be responsible for permantly closed or not. In owner access they have all option availble they can modified every time
Eg:- opening closing time, contact number, special instruction & notice for long distance tourism, open & closed during event,etc
They can do all updated via owner access but they are not aware about that.
Well, the case is completely different.
The case is not resolved by Google . But we have tried resolved it.
Read what happened.
I have personally spent more than an hour with the owner to fix the issue.
The owner’s words:
The owner of a shop has created a place on Google maps with the name of his business.
Google maps created the place with the name but strangely assigned the name to the place i.e the temple.
Now the place is a temple but the name is Fish Aquarium.
He claimed that and got ownership.
I believe Google send physical mail and verifies but he said he only have asked the claimed and got verified.
After completing all the process when he saw the place name is his business but the original place is the temple.
He got around emails per day and parked the place as closed.
As the owner of the place, he can instantly close the place.
Actions we have done so far:
When I called him he was like I don’t care but I said I will help you create your business. then he agreed.
I asked to change the place name, category, and photos of his business from the temple.
Removed Phone and Website.
He has done that.
I also have asked him to delete that business from his list but he said he was unable to find open to remove.
So now the temple has all the correct data with an owner who is not the real owner who can change the details anytime.
Strange thing the owner is a local guide too and complained that he never got any goodies from google though his friends are getting. But I felt his intention was not bad but who know from a phone conversion.
I have tried to create another place with the same name but the place got created with the temple again.
I have created a new place with another name and asked him to claim that and change the details eventually.
What needs to be done.
The business needs to be removed from that owner.
More investigation needed regarding how this thing happened.
Google must fix this auto verification process.
People with more experience should have a better level of access and permission to make changes and they should be recognized and their changes should be accepted instantly. Google mat take interview of people as well.
So many changes needed.
They should brainstorm more on how to manage the users, their activities and data.
The popular places should be categorized diffe3rently and verification process should be more tight for them.
Any change to any popular place should be more careful and make personally by google rather than automatic.
