A Fall (Autumn) Day in Napa Wine Country

A Fall (Autumn).gif

Collage of photos captured by LG @jayasimha78 during recent visit to Napa Wine Country

East Coast of USA is famous for Fall Colors, specially North Eastern states, Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts etc. In Northern California one of the places to experience Fall Colors is Napa Wine Country. Fortunately I live just an hour drive from the Wine country, so it is easily accessible for a day trip.

Mid November is a good time to visit Napa to see Fall Colors. I took a drive this weekend with my Wife to explore fall colors in Wine country.

Let me go through this drive in a reverse chronological order. In fact we could experience different colors in different vineyards. We could see yellow colors as shown in the picture below, in many vineyards.

Some vineyards were showing bright red colors as shown below. Give it a couple of weeks these leaves will turn in to dark brown! In fact this weekend was a perfect time to visit see the fall colors in the vineyards and also towns in Wine Country like Yountville, Calistoga, St Helena.

Our last stop was at Chateau Montelena, which is located in Calistoga, CA. 2022 is 50th anniversary of this Winery. Here is the main structure of this Winery

Winery has a lake called ‘Jade Lake’, surrounded by trees. This is a great place to see fall colors. It is picturesque.

Lake has couple of Japanese style pagodas and a bridge connecting them. In fact you can reserve them for private parties. You can see one of those pictures at the end of this post.

Here is a shot of a Winery on our way. you can see all the leaves turned in to yellow.

Here are few shots of Harvest Inn, which is located on Hwy 29. You see it is covered with several redwood trees.

Another beautiful place to visit in Napa during Fall Season in Far Niente Winery. Entrance to the winery is a private road, which has a line of Gingko trees on either side. It is a treat to watch when the leaves turn ot yellow color.

During fall season it turns in to a dream land. This is a favorite place for photogs to capture beautiful scenery. Unfortunately you are not allowed inside unless you have an appointment for Wine tasting these days.

Winery has deployed Security guard to prevent public entering this private road. However you can see several folks capturing pictures of the Gingko trees, just like I did!

Even though we stopped at several places on the way way to Calistoga, our first stop was at Yountville downtown area, where we stopped for lunch. Yountville downtown has several restaurants, bakeries and it is very beautiful to visit during fall season. The place was filled with tourists enjoying fall colors.

Here is a shot of a street in Yountville.

Well that’s me in Yountville!

We visited an Italian restaurant Bottega, which is located in Yountville. Had a Gin tonic cocktail with Liquid Nitrogen in it. that was an interesting drink. Food and service were great. We enjoyed our lunch here.

Ooh, Canva. I was using Canva until they asked for a subscription even to save my ‘flyers’, I opted out. Do you pay a subscription on the one you use?
