A Dream Safari

I would like to share a story about a dream trip to another world!

Last January a dream of mine came true. Me and a couple of friends visited Dubai for the first time. We escaped the cold winter in Bulgaria for a few days and honestly the timing couldn’t been more perfect. Dubai is a dynamic city. Things are constantly changing and you have to keep up. At night the city looks like a scene from a movie. Everything is sparkly and shiny. I’ve always admired the New York skyline and this was the closest I could get.

Before flying to UAE I checked in with Local Guides for some recommendations on what we need to visit. Among some very interesting propositions the idea of a desert safari really stood out.

There it was. Our second day and finally time for our safari.

The driver came to pick us up from the apartament building where we were staying and we were on our way.

After about 90 minutes we arrived at the desert. The first stop from the program was a quad-bike driving spot. I’ve never driven anything like this so it was a super adventurous experience. Me and my friends were racing around the track and it was so much fun.

After a short break we began the dune bashing. It was an experience like no other. A few times I seriously thought the jeep was gonna roll over but the driver was very skilled and everything went smoothly.

The next stop was literally in the middle of the desert. The landscape was simple and yet so beautiful. We took some photos and even got the chance to ride a sandboard. You can’t even imagine how hard it was to keep your balance on that thing.

Then we took a short break with some araban coffee and traditional sweets while watching a hawk show. The bird was not that scary because his eyes and mouth were covered so taking a photo with the hawk was not a problem. Then it was time for some camel riding. It was much more comfortable and chill than I imagined but unfortunately it was too short.

By the time we arrived at the desert camp we were already exhausted and hungry. The good news was the food came very soon after and it was fantastic. We had so many dishes to choose from I didn’t know what to eat, everything was so delicious. After our bellies became full it was time for some entertainment. A belly dancer and a fire performance took our breaths away. It was truly magical. On our way home I was thinking and replaying evertyhting in my mind and I felt truly captured by the local culture and traditions. For everyone who is still thinking about going to Dubai or Abu Dhabi I can say only this - just go and no need to thank me later!
