Hello dear friends,
We hope, many of you remember our Science City Meetup (Ahmedabad) (Here).
After publishing the meetup photos, requests started pouring in from LGs from different parts of India, requesting to make the T-Shirt available to all. I discussed it along with Ambrish Ji & Naresh Ji and decided to take up the mission; later Bhaskar Varshney also joined the core team for a while. The mission took 2 months till now & needs another 20 days to conclude the 2nd lot.
Photo #2; Caption: Group photo taken inside the Science City during the Meetup. We contacted more than six vendors from different parts of India & discussed the details. Finally, we decided upon M/s. Wallis Clothings from Bangalore, whose manufacturing facility is at Tirupur. (Tiruppur is the main textile and knitwear hub of India - Wiki).
We created a Booking form using Google Form & distributed it through our social media. We had almost 150 T-Shirt bookings (in 1st Lot) within 2 weeks. We shared the relevant data with the vendor & they started processing the orders. They dispatched the orders within ten days.
Even after the 1st Lot booking was closed, the requests continued pouring in; so we decided to start the 2nd Lot; when we closed the final booking on 30th Sep, we had 45 more bookings, totalling 195 T-Shirts in the 1st & 2nd lot together. The payments were facilitated through UPI.
Here is a detailed description of the T-Shirt by a Textile Engineer.

We did a lot of research to finalise the specification which is also cost-effective; the following specifications were finalised (which should be useful to all).
- The thickness of the cloth = Assured 180 gsm (the commercially available T-Shirts have usually 140 to 160 gsm)
- Fabric = Pre-shrunk (won’t shrink with washing or drying)
- Material = 100% ring-spun cotton.
- Washing type = Bio-wash (Machine wash is cheaper but the fabric becomes rough & less durable).
- Stitching style = Premium - Double-needle stitching gives the sleeves and bottom hem a cleaner look and durability.
- Neck = For a soft feel and clean look, Taped Neck & Shoulders
- Printing = Direct to Garment Digital Printing (DTF) provides more durability & soft fabric.
Here is a measurement chart, that also may be helpful.

- A ribbed collar ensures the neckline shape (we opted for collarless).
- Our vendor & we researched the courier agency - we found that ‘India Post Registered Parcel’ is economical & reliable.
- The vendor is very reasonable, cooperative & reliable - anyone can contact us for the contact details.
- The booking form & other supporting documents are available on request.
