A discussion on Custom T-Shirts & India LG Logo printed T-Shirt mission - TravellerG.

Hello dear friends,

We hope, many of you remember our Science City Meetup (Ahmedabad) (Here).

After publishing the meetup photos, requests started pouring in from LGs from different parts of India, requesting to make the T-Shirt available to all. I discussed it along with Ambrish Ji & Naresh Ji and decided to take up the mission; later Bhaskar Varshney also joined the core team for a while. The mission took 2 months till now & needs another 20 days to conclude the 2nd lot.

We contacted more than six vendors from different parts of India & discussed the details. Finally, we decided upon M/s. Wallis Clothings from Bangalore, whose manufacturing facility is at Tirupur. (Tiruppur is the main textile and knitwear hub of India - Wiki).

We created a Booking form using Google Form & distributed it through our social media. We had almost 150 T-Shirt bookings (in 1st Lot) within 2 weeks. We shared the relevant data with the vendor & they started processing the orders. They dispatched the orders within ten days.

Even after the 1st Lot booking was closed, the requests continued pouring in; so we decided to start the 2nd Lot; when we closed the final booking on 30th Sep, we had 45 more bookings, totalling 195 T-Shirts in the 1st & 2nd lot together. The payments were facilitated through UPI.

Here is a detailed description of the T-Shirt by a Textile Engineer.

If anyone needs any further information, feel free to contact us.

We did a lot of research to finalise the specification which is also cost-effective; the following specifications were finalised (which should be useful to all).

  1. The thickness of the cloth = Assured 180 gsm (the commercially available T-Shirts have usually 140 to 160 gsm)
  2. Fabric = Pre-shrunk (won’t shrink with washing or drying)
  3. Material = 100% ring-spun cotton.
  4. Washing type = Bio-wash (Machine wash is cheaper but the fabric becomes rough & less durable).
  5. Stitching style = Premium - Double-needle stitching gives the sleeves and bottom hem a cleaner look and durability.
  6. Neck = For a soft feel and clean look, Taped Neck & Shoulders
  7. Printing = Direct to Garment Digital Printing (DTF) provides more durability & soft fabric.

Here is a measurement chart, that also may be helpful.

Note:

  1. A ribbed collar ensures the neckline shape (we opted for collarless).
  2. Our vendor & we researched the courier agency - we found that ‘India Post Registered Parcel’ is economical & reliable.
  3. The vendor is very reasonable, cooperative & reliable - anyone can contact us for the contact details.
  4. The booking form & other supporting documents are available on request.

I can see a lot of detailed work has gone into this @TravellerG .

I have just ask one question.

Is that a misprint in @Premalpatel 's T-Shirt or is the explanation that that’s a selfie in the mirror or maybe he is wearing his T-Shirt inside out

Just curious!

Hello dear friend, @AdamGT

Yes, you are very correct… A lot of planning and follow up was done.

Fortunately, out of 150 T Shirts, just one person could not get the delivery, due to postal service. ie. we could execute the orders with less than 1% error - considering that this is a onetime operation (we never had any such experience), & could deliver with excellent quality, I feel happy.

Of course, your doubt about the @Premalpatel 's T-Shirt printing - our Premal has cleared it… right?

Thank you very much for your kind response and support.

With warm regards…

Thank you very much for your kind support always, dear @Premalpatel .

Your personal review has been appreciated by many LGs. If time permits, kindly give another detailed update, please.

I have tried to cover some points; however, if you have more points, then, I can include it in the main post.

Thank you for confirming the mirror selfie @Premalpatel . I had another thought afterwards and thought hmmm perhaps @TravellerG planted a deliberate test in his post to see who actually reads the details

You did a great job. I wish there was a common t-shirt that all local guides around the world could use. For example, when you meet another local guide while traveling, it would be nice to understand that I am a volunteer local guide and get in touch. I like your t-shirts very much. :facepunch:t2: @TravellerG

Hello TG,

If you Don’t mind I want to Share Detailed Review About LG T shirts - After wearing them for half a day

  1. Material Used Combed Compact Hosiery ( ie. CCH ) – MOST SUITABLE FOR HOSIERY MATERIAL FOR GREAT COMFORT AND BREATHABILITY OF FABRIC.

  2. T Shirt Dimensions – length and chest size Are Perfectly Matches with Size Chart – I personally Think That No One complain About Measurement Issue.

  3. Print and Feel Of T shirt – Print used is Digital Print which means That Durability For Print is Around 50 to 60 washs. Printing Quality is Really Nice And In Detail. GSM is Also Really Good Around 180.

  4. Regarding Bio Wash – For Those who Didn’t know About Bio wash - I’ll Explain in Simple Way –
Bio Wash is Processe In Wich No Harmful Chemicals Are Used . ( Used Anzyme )
Due to this Fabric Texture, Appearance Get Improved. Garment Feel Softer, Smoother & Brighter.
Bio Wash is Alos Eco-friendly Replacement Of Chemical Treatment. Perfectly suitable For Sensitive Skin.

  5. Cost – Personally As A Textile Engineer i Believe That From This Prince Range This Kind Of Garment With Free Delivery At Your Doorstep Is Nearly Impossible.

Thank you so much Once again :bouquet: @TravellerG

A unique dress code gives any community a distinct look and attracts people. I remember that in our meetup in Ahmedabad we had the same dress code and many people were looking at us curiously some of them were asking me what is this India Local Guide and what do you do? And to be honest, this unique dress code is what gives the community its true identity and attracts others to join.

You have really worked hard to accomplish this mission. @TravellerG Sir.

Extremely sorry for being a bit late here… My friend @Gezendunyali .

Well regarding the Global T Shirt mission looks much less feasible. In India, though we are a very vast country, the postal service is very good - so we could dispatch the items…

Where as, on international basis, this may not be possible.

However, our vendor is a regular exporter… I can check the details with him.

I’m trying to send you a private message - kindly check.

PS:

kindly respond when free.

I really understand, dear friends @AdamGT & @Ramamoorthy123 - presently I have a huge backlog which I’m struggling to clear up - hope, after that, I will be more involved…

Till then, kindly pardon me, please.

Thanks for understanding.
