A Delicious Walk in Goodyear for a Good Year

Goodyearis a city in Arizona, and 2 weeks ago, I went on a delicious walk in Goodyear for a good year of 2023. :blue_heart: :green_heart:

Here was the recipe for my day.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Alarm clock
  • 1 Large cup of coffee
  • 1 Handful of Google Maps
  • 2 Dollops of appetite
  • Optional: 1 Dash of pensive thoughts

Steps:

  1. Set the alarm clock for 5:00 a.m., because wouldn’t it be nice to get a head start. Marinate in your tangle of blankets until the alarm rings.

  2. Change your mind. Insert additional time by pressing snooze for 15 minutes. Repeat until you have achieved your desired stage of awakeness.

  3. Pour your sleepy self into your car or transportation of choice.

  4. Turn on Google Maps, and choose your destination. Sprinkle in other destinations along the way.

~I wanted to see Estrella Star Tower in Goodyear. I also mapped out a park that I could revisit and a plaza nearby.

  1. Add one large cup of coffee to boost energy. Drive to a local cafe or a gas station that is on the way to your destination. Decorate your coffee with a generous scoop of sugar and cream.

~I found a coffee shop (called Cafe Bebida) that I could park at before I visited the tower. I took photos and a video of the exterior. While waiting in line, I took photos and a video of the interior ambience and food.

  1. Follow the sidewalk to Estrella Star Tower. As the winter morning is still chilly, warm your body by standing for a bit in a sunny spot

~I chose to walk, in case there were any other spots along the way to visit and add photos to.

  1. Continue up the twisting steps. Scatter in breaks to take photos and videos.

~I was entranced by the bird’s eye view of the broad streets and the mountains in the horizon, along with the babbling (albeit artificial) stream. I took a video of the steps of the tower along with that view.

  1. Stir in a visit to another nearby spot- Estrella Mountain Regional Park. While there, optionally, place a dash of pensive thoughts while hiking.

~I nostalgically remembered the rodeo arena seating that I used to sit at after my hike, so I drove to the far end of the park. It was sadly no longer there, so I added that new information to my review.

  1. Roll over to Food City, located in Avondale Plaza. Scoop up 1 dollop of appetite and bring it with you. If no hot food is available, substitute with snacks.

~My stomach was rumbling. I took photos of the store and one video. Then, I rushed over to the deli to see if they had tacos. They closed early for the day, so I bought a bag of nuts to snack on.

  1. Toss in some photos of nearby stores in the plaza, as you walk back to your car.

  2. Crumple over your phone and get distracted in the rabbit hole of Youtube while you snack.

  3. Cool off with a dessert on the way home, and infuse with your second dollop of appetite.

~I visited Antojitos LindaMar and got their apple dish (manzana preparada) to-go. I couldn’t wait to dig in.

  1. Mix in photos of the place and food. Layer with photos of nearby stores on the way to back to your car.

  2. Simmer in traffic caused by construction. Hurriedly, taste a sample of your to-go order while at the red light.

  3. Return home. Upload all photos and videos. Top off your day by writing the reviews of places you’ve visited.
