A Day in Feroz Shah Kotla - City Of Djinns

A Mystical Visit to Feroz Shah Kotla – Delhi’s Djinn Sanctuary

I recently developed interest in visiting places famous for Djinns, and you can’t find a place better than Feroz Shah Kotla for that

What are Djinns -
Djinns (or “Jinns”) are supernatural beings that originate from pre-Islamic Arabian mythology but are also featured prominently in Islamic theology. They are believed to be made of smokeless fire, unlike humans who are made of clay. Djinns are thought to inhabit an unseen world, parallel to humans, and have the ability to shape-shift, possess individuals, and influence events.

In Islamic tradition, djinns are considered to have free will, much like humans, and can be good, evil, or neutral. They are believed to live in a world separate from humans, though they can interact with our realm in various ways. Some djinns are seen as helpful spirits, while others are considered mischievous or even malevolent.

Feroz Shah Kotla is a historical fort in Delhi, and it was an experience like no other. Known for its eerie reputation, the place has long been associated with djinns – supernatural beings that locals believe haunt the ruins.

The fort, built in the 14th century by Sultan Feroz Shah Tughlaq, is a treasure trove of history and architecture, with its imposing walls and ancient structures. But it’s the stories surrounding its spiritual connections that make this site truly unique. Locals believe that if you leave offerings like flowers, incense, or even handwritten prayers, the djinns will grant your wishes.

Walking through the ruins, I could feel a certain mysticism in the air – the energy of the place is undeniable. The atmosphere is filled with a sense of mystery and quiet reverence. It’s no wonder that this site continues to captivate the imagination of both history enthusiasts and those drawn to the supernatural.

Whether you’re into history, mythology, or just looking for something offbeat in Delhi, Feroz Shah Kotla is definitely worth a visit. Just be sure to leave a little prayer or offering, and who knows – you might just feel the presence of the djinns too. :sparkles:

Excellent post with amazing photos @Manishhh :+1:
I also heard a lot about the Jinns in this fort :ghost:

Also another bit about this fort - a lot of its stones and bricks were stolen by the Mughals to build the Red Fort which is nearby. As a result, the Feroz Shah Kotla fort appears in ruins.

Here’s a report of my visit there 4 years ago:

It is no surprise we have taken almost similar photos
