China is always an attractive destination to me. Mountains, forests, waterfalls, all I have seen on internet about China is stunning and breathtaking. This post I will share with you about my latest experience in China when I visited Tianmen Mountain in Zhangjiajie. I bought my ticket one day in advance before going from my hotel receptionist, paid at hotel and next day I will just need to show my passport to collect it. Here is the ticket I got
Once you get the ticket, then it’s time! So they have 2 lines to go, I had line B which is I will go up to mountain by car and then go down by cable car. Such a “thrilling” trip by car up to Tianmen Mt, the road is seriously sick
Luckily it will take around 20 minutes only, so if you are car-sick like me you could survive without sickness pills!
Now the real challenge begins! Heaven’s gate on Tianmen Mountain with 999 steps. Due to the Taoist philosophy, these mystical 999 steps are the supreme number and the symbol of the emperor. There is a belief among the locals that the mountain itself and its gates of heaven have a mystical force.
I found it challenging but irresistible to overcome it and when I stood on top and looked down its a great feeling that I did it by myself
After a quick rest, I started exploring the rest of the mountain, following the map and English instructions which is easily seen everywhere. Make sure you follow the right route to catch the cable car down later.
Here is some of my pictures of that day
Walking along cliffside path

With average speed everyone could finish the trip around 3pm, the last cable car and bus in winter time is 4h30pm so make sure you are careful about time.
Zhangjiaje is truly beautiful and worth seeing so I hope my post will help every people plan their trip perfect.

It really looks like a great trip. I would probably prefer to go up with a cable car and to go down with a car. It is always more scary for me to go down with a cable car than to go up.
I am also a bit car sick by the way. It depends a lot on the driver and the route. But it always helps me to watch the way in front of me. On the other hand, when I am reading something or looking at my phone I feel sick so I am doing that only on highways.
Hi @VitB i agree,my original plan was going up by cable car also, but i bought ticket quiet late so that route is full , i had to go the diverse route, more exercise
I read some tips about avoiding car sick, people said try not close eyes or look at phone but wacth the scenery out of the window, i did and it helped sometimes
Hi @IshantHP_ig , i travelled there last month, this place is at zhangjiajie and the other famous spot is Zhangjiajie national park whick took me 3 days to explore . It is a big park, i may try to write a post about it soon. Thank you
