In Treviglio and in other near villages the students up to high school have been asked to write anti-bullying messages and the schools have been “fenced” with a blue ribbon and a knot. The initiative is in fact called “A knot out of the ordinary” (in English “A knot out of the ordinary”).
This problem is increasingly present in our country and I imagine the same applies to other countries. Unfortunately, the world of social networks has made it much easier to “bully” because it is done using a keyboard and you cannot perceive the negative reactions that arise in the targeted people.
The initiative is very important because it “forces” students to reflect on the consequences of actions that may seem goliardic at that age but which can create very deep wounds in the victims, especially if they are fragile in nature or have already existing problems.
this is a very nice initiative by your city, sensitize I believe is something very important because, as you say, students often don’t think that some actions are not a game and may produce bad consequences.
@LuigiZ yes, I think this is one of the problem we are facing in Italy nowadays that is based on a very bad education and information of the students. I think also in the other countries the bullying phenomena is present and the right way to inform students about is also to teach them that the world of social media is not a world separate from the real world, but now in all respects it is part of every person’s life and an offense on social media is like an offense against a person who is seen by many more people.
Thanks for sharing this beautiful initiative with us! We all need to have more kindness in the world and to support one another.
Keep sharing these activities with the community so we can learn from each other and maybe someone else is going to replicate this and the other good things we can see here!
This is good effort in right direction. Creating awareness about negative impact of bullying on individuals is a commendable initiate. Agreed with the writer when he wrote that bullying has become more rampant with internet. I liked it that a group had the urge to campaign against bullying . It will be good if the campaign could be replicated in other cities around the world. @RiccyB thanks for sharing.
Hi @Emmik20 I agree with you! I think in other countries there are already programs that try to communicate to young people why bullying is not a demonstration of force but is a demonstration of weakness.
The right way to communicate this kind of thing is for sure campaign on the socials but it is important a physical involvement of the people.
I was just checking in to see how the anti-bullying day in Italy went. It sounds like the city where you live had a really cool initiative with the blue ribbon and the anti-bullying messages from students. It’s awesome to see people taking action against bullying.
