A cultural festival to foster harmony and cohesion, The Lake Turkana Cultural Festival

The Marsabit Lake Turkana Cultural festival is an annual event held at loiyangalani,Marsabit County. It is a cultural event that brings together the 14 communities that reside in marsabit county, northern Kenya.

They come together to share their cultures with the rest of the world in terms of food, attire and dance. And also to foster cohesion and harmony among them to curb tribal conflict.

The communities coming together and sharing despite their cultural differences, some are pastoralists others farmers, makes them understand each other better. Talks are also held in order to improve mechanisms for conflict resolution. Moreover it gives them a means to earn some money by giving them an opportunity to sell some of their wares including food and cultural regalia.

I have been able to add the marsabit Lake Turkana Cultural Village site to Google maps, where most of the showcasing takes place and also several photos which collectively have had approximately 10000 views. i believe this has helped people navigate to it and get a feel for what it’s all about.

Hello @TsekoV , thank you very much for your feedback and for moving my post to the appropriate section.

I am indeed new to Local Guides Connect and yes this post was initially made for the purpose of my Connect Live 2020 application but I’ll be making more.

All the photos I’ve posted on this post are mine. I took the photographs myself. If the reason for them being inappropriate for the post is the logo, I can re-post them without the logo. Or replace them with others I took.

@TsekoV I have edited the post.
