A Bucket List of Places to Spend 2 days in Cincinnati

Cincinnati is also called the Queen City.

It is a beautiful place to live or to just visit because it is decorated like a queen.

Tall skyscrapers, broad and clean streets, the charming Ohio River with the several majestic bridges that span it makes Cincinnati a picture-perfect town.

The icing on the cake is the lovely murals that adorn the walls in downtown.

If you’ve got 2 or more days to spend, here is a bucket list of my favorite places.

  1. Fountain Square

Fountain Square is a food and entertainment hub of Cincinnati where you will find signature restaurants and bars on all four sides. Besides that, there are various activities like an ice-skating rink and events in the Square all year round.

  1. Carew Tower Observation Deck

Adjacent to the fountain park is the Carew Tower Observation deck on the 49th floor for some stunning views of Cincinnati along with the Ohio River with its various adorable bridges.

  1. Horseshoe Casino

Spend an Evening at the Horseshoe Casino which is the most popular casino hotel in Cincinnati and an all-in-one entertainment center. The casino hotel is attached to the baseball stadium so one can have a drink on the balcony that looks over the stadium for a grand view. Cincinnati Reds is the official team.

  1. Westin Hotel

The Hotel Westin Cincinnati is right near the Fountain Square and has rooms with Many Views and fabulous facilities and amenities.

  1. Covenant Church

Visit the Covenant church that is only a couple of blocks away from the Fountain Square and marvel at the building architecture that will captivate your mind since it is a unique and beautiful Gothic-style church constructed, facing Piatt Park.

  1. Streetside Murals

Take a stroll down the Vine street from the Carew Tower past the Fountain Square towards the Covenant church to gaze at the enchanting murals on the wide and huge walls of the various buildings in Cincinnati.

@TusharSuradkar Cincinnati is a beautiful city. It reminds me of any other big cities. I love the atmospheres. For the future, put Caving inyour bucket list. In a day you can visit 6-7 caves they are very close to each other

I researched caving and found there are plenty of opportunities in the mid-west, added to the list of activities but equally surprised that we could possibly do 6-7 in a day, that is exciting @Erna_LaBeau

And agree about Cincinnati being one of the typical cities and nothing special about it, not even a landmark building or a natural formation, except the grand river Ohio

Hi, my friend, I was there only once for about 8 days

Unfortunately, the SD card in my digital camera got damaged on returning home.

I tried best to repair but many hundred photos on several other locations were lost from the Cincinnati trip :disappointed:

Thank you for sharing your bucket list @TusharSuradkar ! The pictures are splendid as well.

I smiled when you mentioned Cincinnati also being called the Queen City, and I wanted to know the reason for that. Is there a history behind the name? I know of another city Charlotte in North Carolina, U.S. also being known as the Queen City; named after Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (wife of King George III and Queen of Great Britain and Ireland in 1761).

Hi @ChinonsoOnukwugha

I too smiled at your question since I had already researched this topic only to discover that “Queen City” was a self-adopted title by its residents

and was claimed by virtue of its order, enterprise, public spirit, and liberality.
In 1854, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote a poem, to memorialize the city’s vineyards and a stanza of his poem reads:

"This Song of the Vine,
This greeting of mine,
The winds and the birds shall deliver,
To the Queen of the West,
In her garlands dressed,
On the banks of the Beautiful River."

But I was not aware that another city that also claims the title.
Charlotte at least seems to have some history for the claim

Thank you for educating me on this @TusharSuradkar . I now have a fun fact when asked about Cincinnati! :slightly_smiling_face:
